Sometimes, when talking about musicians who chose to remain faceless it’s easier [read: simpler] to just start with the facts. Much respected in house and techno circles, ItaloJohnson are a Berlin based trio who release what they call ‘functional sketches’ that combine their own array of influences with a very un-complex formula; on vinyl and on their own label. They have, so far, unleashed eight stamped platter transmissions, which have all been released with the same minimal fanfare but, as their sparse and monochrome website states: “ItaloJohnson is in no way trying to reinvent the wheel, rather trying to create reduced and functional sketches which can carry emotions through a DJ and dancefloor oriented sound.”

Seemingly more than aware of their place and the impact the music they produce and release is having in certain club spaces, they’ll be appearing at WetYourSelf’s Bank Holiday celebration on Sunday 24th August in Room One alongside the WYS! Residents Cormac, Peter Pixzel and Jacob Husley. Ahead of their appearance they’ve crafted a thoughtfully rugged and essential promotional mix that will undoubtedly go a long way to learn you way more about their outlook and their music than this fact-found introduction ever could…

Our new Cymatic podcast is ready , and it comes from the heart of London , however , its creators come from a rather natural environment , surrounded by mountains , fresh air and a beautiful landscape. Abur: represents a project made between two friends from Brasov and Bucharest, Romania . Being part of an inspiring journey with the “Proudly Made By Us “ team back home , Aleka collected and played music around the country , at festivals and parties , sharing the decks with names like Audio Werner , Praslea, Raresh, Cristi Cons, Alexandra, Barac, Gescu, and many others , being part of a duo with his good friend Vygo. Now he moved to London , and as we all know this city’s history and legacy in electronic music is overwhelming and inspiring , so a new project has emerged with his friend Bogdan Burnescu . We like their sound very much , they have been crafting some tracks already and it definitely drew our attention to it. It’s a unique style that combines many elements from the electronic music, not just one particular genre, they like to adopt house grooves with minimal sounds, and some quite mysterious techno rhythms. It is inspiring, and harmonic, and as they like to say : It gives something back, it motivates us to offer something that can be saved for the future, some of the nicest feelings, which is electronic music. "

It is with great pleasure we bring you one of our own to the Toi.Toi.Mix Series: Herodot. 

This set was recorded at the Lion & Lamb in London in December 2017 at Toi.Toi’s monthly outing there.  
This is a 2hrs extract of a 4.5hrs set. 

The Lion & Lamb is London’s CDV equivalent. It is a spot which has become our little hub.  The Pub is equipped with the only Martin Audio soundystem - fitted by Martin Audio - outside of Fabric, a Rane Rotary Mixer carved on wood, decks and Cdjs, it has become a sonic haven for audiophiles. 

This event marked the start of Toi.Toi.’s monthly residency there in collaboration with L&L. Other residencies include Craig Richards’ on Sundays as well as showcasing local and international talent week in week out.

RBExclusive: Cellini's dedicated Dour mix

Sammy Dee needs very little introduction, his 20+ years involvement with Perlon and Get Perlonized events are evidence to his legacy who is an example as such that we have as role model. 

One thing I can talk about extensively however is him as a Dj. Sammy possesses an extremely wide taste in music and a record collection that follows that,  crossing over many genres of music. His ability to adapt to day or night sets, early or late slots and so on  is incredibly precise, as seen here at Sunwaves Festival last May. He was handing over to Dragos Ilici who crossed over to Binh. Please note that this set has intro / middle and ending, a feature that should be standard to us all but surprisingly it is not, hence my emphasis on it, it is a beautiful progression and killer structure. 

Sammy was one of my first bookings for the Toi.Toi.Parties and has been a close friend ever since.  I lost my shit during this set at Sunwaves with him and when finding out it was recorded I pestered him to allow me to release it as it has been on 'repeat' ever since. 

My due respect and thankfulness to this amazing soul and artist I truly admire.

To start things off, we have who is, one of the most understated and respected artists in our scene, Rhadoo, to provide us with a recording of his fabric set when the club turned 19 years old last October. A lot could be written and said about this artist who is so outstanding, unique and historically relevant to minimalism, however, in order to be in line with his identity and his understatement we will let the music speak for itself. 

We would like to thank fabric for granting us this recording and wish them a great night this Saturday as they have their annual RPR Soundsystem gathering.
