We don't know a great deal about Volruptus to be honest.  We believe it to be one man, who is from Reykjavik, although his Facebook page suggests he might reside in Berlin.  For a bit more info into who exactly is behind the Volruptus moniker though, that's where his Facebook page stops being useful, stating simply "He brought the BASS from outer SPACE! 2 YER FACE!!! The Unruly and groovy. The sneaky and freaky. The Alien Boogie commander known as Volruptus is on a mission to make you move!".  

So let's focus on what we do know then.  We know that Volruptus's musical output has been absolutely impeccable, in just a few releases, he's defined a sound which takes influence from British rave culture, Detroit electro and more experimental sounds of the 90s but which is wholly his own.  Through releases on Sweaty Records, which may or may not be his own label, Nina Kraviz's, TRIP and fellow countryman, Bjarki's, bbbbbbb, Volruptus's music has managed to become cult in just two short years.  His records are collectables in the making, mysterious, intricate and futuristic whilst remaining undeniably dance floor.  It's probably no surprise that we see him work alongside Kraviz and Bjarki who seem to embody a similar mystique in what they do.  For his Dimensions mix Volruptus seriously delivers, with an hour of energetic but detailed pure space funk from a real life alien boogie commander.

There's Liquid's 'Feel 3' and Leftfield's 'Fanfare Of Life' from 1992 and Luca Lozano's 'Essential Elements' and Truska's 'Lucid' from this year, mixed into to a bunch of other electrifying records either released in the early '90s or the last two years.

Andy Pye (@balearicsocial) is a very well-known name among lovers and admirers of Balearic sound. Leeds-based selector, a lifelong and passionate music collector, DJ, resident of a legendary Outlaws Yacht Club, radio host and Balearic Social Records label owner. The proud aficionado of all things Balearic. More than a decade he's been present on the Worldwide DJ scene doing mixes, podcasts and radio shows for Testpressing, 1BTN, KMAH Radio, NTS, Purple Radio, RLR, and many many more. All this time he's been devoted to keep the Balearic spirit alive in the most authentic way possible: good music played by good people looking to have a good time. 

In one interview he described his mixes as cocktails. Slow burners - the more you taste, the more you like.

It has been a very intense year for me, working as a nurse during a pandemic has been very challenging. Born as a Person of Color (PoC) in Europe, means that the majority of society seems to has its place for you. The worldwide #BLM movements and demonstrations in 2020, had a major impact on all of us. Music has helped me to heal and deal with many things. In music I find joy and friendship which I am missing now. In times of multiple Lockdowns, I have digged myself into Piano, music theory, mixing beatmatching and Djing. Thanks to my family, friends and to life..here some healing and earthy sounds to groove with!
