Ears Wide Open is my call for you to come wander open-heartedly into the endless realm of beats and melodies I dig, mostly – but not limited to – electronic, No boundaries or preconceptions, just all that music I wanted to share with the world, but I didn’t have the chance yet.

I grew up listening to the radio or better said, the radio grew me musically, infected me with a visceral need to select the music I loved and tape it on cassettes. Later on, I started to buy vinyl and play them to the people at parties. Ears Wide Open triggers a new dimension of what DJing means for me. Tune in and enjoy!

Dance

There is a taut rope on which I dance.
The taut rope on which I dance
is between two pillars.

The dance I perform on the rope
is a dance from one pillar to another.

The taut rope on which I dance between the two pillars
is shone with a bright light
in which people watch my dance.

They neither see me who dances
nor the rope on which I dance
nor the pillars on which the rope is stretched

nor the light in which the dance is visible:
People only see the dance.
But the dance I perform,
I dance on the rope
that is between the pillars
that is illuminated

On that rope between those pillars, in that light
I don't actually dance. 
I merely run from pillar to pillar

to untie the rope from this or that pillar
so that the tension is released and I can be relieved in the relaxation—

But the tension doesn't ease.
And I run from pillar to pillar

But the tension remains the same
Everything remains the same

And that is my dance that everyone sees—not me

Not the rope

Not the pillars

Not the light

Not even the tension

They see—dance!

Tom is the core member and resident of the Freerotation Festival, Tom Ellis has been releasing funk & jazz inspired house & techno since 2003, when he launched Trimsound, his first label, which was co-run with Leif.

His vast discography includes over 40 EPs and 7 albums that pop up on some of the world's most respected underground labels. His early appearances on Mindtours and Trimsound led to worldwide recognition and further releases and remixes for Archipel, Good Ratio Music, Classic, Philpot, Moon Harbour, Leap, Telegraph, Logistic, Black Key Records, Eye4Eye, Floppy Funk, Morris Audio, Flumo, Supremus Records, Hartchef Discos, Minibar, Highgrade, Klamauk, and Som Bom (the electronic spin-off label run by fellow Welsh men, Super Furry Animals) and many, many more.

Tom's DJ & Live sets, which usually consist entirely of his own material (often unreleased and previously un-heard), have taken him across the globe with gigs as far afield as Moscow, Tokyo, Montreal, Guatemala, and Honduras, as well as regular appearances across Europe.

His music is regularly picked up and played by the likes of Carl Cox, Magda, Zip, Lauren Lavern (BBC 6 music), Craig Richards, Maya Jane Coles and many others.

Forever steering into the weirder side of things, he tries to anchor himself with his experience as a self-taught musician. Playing drums, bass, keys and guitar from an early age has given him a good foundation from which to understand and explore electronic music with the groove, soul and funk of a real musician.

2016 has seen the launch of his new solo label, In Modo Di (@in-modo-di), with the first record landing high in the bestseller charts, and the launch of his new monthly radio show on KMAH radio, The Taunton Loft Sessions.
