Expanded Radio Research Unit is an independent radio art platform for innovative works at the intersection of music, spoken word, performance and sound to challenge the limits of broadcasting; a laboratory which considers radio as an art form and a practice of experimentation and creation of multiple sonic possibilities and imaginary spaces. The aim is also to interconnect different cultural and spatial spheres and to explore the techno-sociological nature of radio, alongside its heterogeneous practices of artistic production.
Conceived and curated by sound artist Katatonic Silentio, Expanded Radio Research Unit takes place as a monthly residency on Radio Raheem, the web radio located in the iconic Museum of Design Triennale Milano.

A circle of the “Imagery Archive” chapters, another gusset of the on-going research that has been presented, following other devices (laptop solo performance and A/V live), at PArS - Murate Art District and Dancity Festival. What’s next? With contributions by A Distant Shore, Ernesto Longobardi, Francesco Toninelli, Giovanni Alibrandi, Leonardo Melchionda. 

Demetrio Cecchitelli is a prolific musician and composer mainly active in the field of research music. Released worldwide on numerous labels and web-labels such as Healing Sound Propagandist, Whitelabrecs, Élan Vital Recordings, Luminance Records, among others.

The Polish Radio Experimental Studio (PRES) was founded in 1957 in Warsaw by the official state broadcaster of Poland. It was launched as a space for the creation of independent compositions, sound illustrations for radio dramas, soundtracks for theatre, film and dance. 
The establishment of the Polish Radio Experimental Studio was brainchild of Włodzimierz Sokorski, head of the Radio and Television Committee. Between 1952 and 1956 he was Minister of Culture, as well as a strong advocate of socialist realism, fighting against any manifestation of modernity in music. 
Created only a few years after similar experimental-oriented radio units in Paris (1948), Cologne (1951) and Milan (1955), under the direction of the Studio's founder, Józef Patkowski, PRES became a laboratory for experimentation. 
Despite this, PRES' output has been underrepresented in the history of 20th century music.

On the occasion of the reissue of her 1984 album The Divine Punishment, today Expanded Radio Research Unit dedicates the entire episode to Diamanda Galás through a selection of her outstanding works. 
Diamanda Galás is an American musician, singer-songwriter, visual artist, and soprano and activist. Her commitment to addressing social issues and her involvement in collective action has made her concentrate on themes such as AIDS, mental illness, despair, loss of dignity, political injustice, historical revisionism, and war crimes. 
Belonging to a very particular field of contemporary vocal research and performance art, she uses the voice as an instrument and enriches it by interweaving the technical with the expressive.
Galás has presented mainly her own work, but her live performances have also included works by other musicians, such as the avant-garde composers Iannis Xenakis and Vinko Globokar, jazz musician Bobby Bradford, saxophonist John Zorn, and Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones, among others.

Lens of Time’ builds its pulse from unconventional percussive patterns, weaving together organic textures with GiGi FM’s ethereal vocals. As she explains, “We drew on traditional Thai instruments from the studio, blending them with live recordings of my voice—both for singing and percussive elements. Poetry added another layer, grounding the track with an emotional, almost narrative dimension.”

As GiGi FM reflects, “Our work together became about tapping into something much bigger than ourselves—this grand, cosmic interconnectedness. Time, for us, wasn’t linear—it felt collective and expansive, a thread connecting our experiences, traumas, and creative visions.”

Across four tracks, it looks to merge minimalism with rhythmic invention, starting with the rugged 'Psi' with its thudding kicks and moody synths. 'Fluid' then brings more lithe, urgent rhythms with deft sound designs adding a futuristic edge and 'Interstate' then brings more raw texture and tension with heavy drones and paranoid spoken words that pan about the mix. 'Resin' shuts down with a nice tight blend of kicks and hits that is easy to latch onto and get lost in.

The air shifts. Drawn from a live composition and distilled into eleven personal mantras, Raär's Incentive unfolds as a long-player sonic rite, tracing a path through a wind chamber. A narrative pulled into motion by a propulsive undercurrent.

The eleventh opus in Omen Wapta's lineage begins with flickers at the edge of vision. No clear path, just shapes that rise and vanish in the periphery. The air carries tension. Low hums lean into pressure. The ground rolls forward.

Trees bend inward. A summons breathes from below, hovering between clarity and wandering dust. The pace fractures. A space opens. Long enough to feel it pass: a shadow, a pulse, a question. Something inside has turned.

The chase tightens. Each element presses against the next. Inside the rhythm. Inside the self. Overtones shiver. The wind doesn't stop. It carries what remains. Sound, now memory. Movement, now shadow. Incentive carves deeper into Raär's terrain. Untethered, inward, and elemental. He sculpts in weight and pressure, low-end as bedrock. FX opens the ground between weight and light. Tape compression binds the vessel. Beneath, a drone exhales. Charged with trace.

Every track, a step. Each pause, a turn. Guided to feel, not to grasp.
