Dj Randall is my absolute favourite Dj of this Hardcore Jungle Drum & Bass scene. During Randall’s career, he gained popularity via playing on a radio station called Centralforce 88.3 fm. Randall played guest sets on Kiss 100 Fm & had a residency at A.W.O.L & Metal Headz. He also appeared practically on almost all leading promotional events (Amnesia House, Jungle Fever, Desire, Quest, World Dance, Dreamscape, Heat, One Nation, Telepathy, Slammin Vinyl, Hysteria, Global Gathering, just to name a few) from the very beginning till one of his last ever sets at Glastonbury summer 2024 . The brilliant Dj Randall played alongside the very biggest names (Shy Fx, Roni Size, Grooverider, Jumpin’ Jack Frost, Mickey Finn, Kenny Ken, Goldie, Andy C) dance music has to offer. Randall tore down dance floors for many years, with his unique mixing style & beat selection. Known as the Dj’s favourite dj, welcome to the incredible world of the legend that is Randall.

With 2 different cuts of equally high pedigree from 2 of the most exciting UK talents, Parly B and Jago, each with its own heavy weight dub version from UK legend Manasseh plus murderous Jungle remixes from J-Man and FLeCK this release is a sure fire anthem for 2014. .LIGHTER!

Parly B:  What a year it has been for this man. Having established his reputation with the Skints, Parly has gone on to take 2013 by storm establishing himself as the most saught after MC on the UK dancehall scene with recent hits on Mungo’s Hi Fi’s Scotch Bonnet and Reggae Roast amoung many others. His track ‘Dem a Fight’ on this release is arguably his biggest and baddest to date and sets a message of intent for 2014. Jago came to fame as the front man of dub/reggae outfit Onlyjoe and brings his rugged, energetic style to the release with great effect. Jago’s cut, entitled Ilani, is a tribute to his first daughter who has been a continual source of  inspiration to him. He is currently putting the finishing touches on his debut album, entitled ‘Jago And Friends’ which is set to be released in early 2014 and is set to make big waves in the UK Reggae scene and beyond.

J-man delivers an absolute killer of a Jungle remix that is sure to excite Europe's vast sea of Jungle fanatics. Fast becoming one of the most talked about up and coming producers on the UK underground rave circuit, Bristol's dub plate munching badman has been taking the scene by storm with his trademark style of party flexed Ragga-Jungle. Having just signed to Run Tingz Records and with his debut album soon to drop, things are heating up for this exciting talent.

FLeCK: Next up we have FLeCK ,an electronic music producer extraordinaire hailing from Athens, Greece, who hits us with a down tempo 140 BPM Jungle reworking. RUFF an TUFF this is a hard hitting alternative to the original and brings brand new flavour to the release. Having made big waves in the electronic music scene since the 90s, FLeCK’s music has found its way into the record boxes of the likes Public Enemy’s DJ Lord, Rusko and many others as well featuring on Diplo’s Mad Decent blog and massive radio support.

Reggae Roast is building a formidable catalogue featuring some of the most exciting artists in the UK and beyond. Key players in the resurgence of the UK Roots scene over the past 5 years, they are a leading light in the new generation of dub music. 2013 was big but 2014 is set to be even bigger.

Late in 2013, French DJ and producer extraordinaire, Laurent Garnier, decided on a plan to get his music reaching out to the very corners of the underground music scene. Rather than self-releasing, or opting for the tried and tested labels, Garnier decided to plump for a selection of independent record labels from different countries that he greatly respected and supported, each one with their own strong identity and fan base, and to go under the moniker ‘Garnier’ for these projects. Opening his account on Chicago’s Still Music in February 2014, with the ‘AF0490’ single, the electronic stalwart has since gone on to issue singles on Modeselektor’s 50 Weapons (‘AF4302’ EP), Musique Large (‘A13’) and the MCDE label (‘KL2036’ EP).

A huge supporter of Hypercolour over the years, and perhaps an embracing of the British label’s dedication to the ‘UK sound’ (considering the Frenchman’s early deployment to Manchester’s legendary Hacienda club in the late 80s as resident DJ), it’s of little surprise then that the fifth Garnier project lands on Hypercolour this August.

Two stellar tracks then from Garnier; ‘ENCHANTé’ is an epic 122BPM chugger, its soaring and pitch bending strings, rasping keys and filtered vocals providing plenty of melancholic melody and classic electronic vibes, whilst a swinging drum pattern keeps things nice and tight. A big tune from Garnier here, sitting very snuggly with his legendary track, ‘The Man with the Red Face’, we’re expecting this one to ring out across dancefloors far and wide over the coming months….

On the flip, ‘pǝsnɟuoɔ’ goes straight for the jugular; a pumping techno workout with scattering and inter-galactic bleep-work, thunderous effects, and with a heady nod to the sounds of Detroit’s minimalists Robert Hood and Jeff Mills. Battering 909 snares are offset with the warm and harmonic choir pads, a killer slice of techno from one of the scene’s most switched on and in tune godfathers!

To launch this series, it was only right that we start with this very special recording. We threw a free 'pop up' rave, outdoors on a beautiful, sunny, June afternoon in Bristol with the mighty Raze Sound System. The legendary Randall came through with MC Lowqui and they rolled out in trademark style. All said it was an amazing day but it was also the last time we actually got to see him DJ. Today, in exactly the same spot where this party happened, you can now find an incredible graffitti tribute to Randall.
