After turning heads with this debut EP for our own naivety sublabel, Hassan Abou Alam is back and more than ready to cement his rep as Cairo’s foremost breakbeat master. This Egyptian lover of all things choppy and rave-y cooks up another epic sonic assault on the ears and subwoofers, designing a crafty and detailed 5-tracker that will not only rattle but stun.

A focused but playful energy runs throughout the entirety of the record, initiating things with the fat beats and the bleep-y bassline of “It Spills”, building towards the X-files atmosphere of ‘Unkindled’ and carrying the vibe on to the B-side for three more cuts of subby, tranced-out alien funk. B-side tracks “Breathe” and “Khamassen” bring on a deeper blend of complex funk patterns, elastic bass and mysterious samples while still moving the dance in the most superlative of ways. Finally, bringing things to sweet culmination, the more rugged and raw beats of final track  “All Used Up” ride along expansive, wide-eyed melodies, resonant acid and a pinch of late 90s surfer-traveller optimism.

Be Kind. A simple statement, good advice and the DJ behind Shell Tape 75. Good vibes abound in this mix - a bashful smile slides through the soundwaves for the entirety of the hour. There’s no one genre or style that anchors the mix, no localised focus nor dogmatic dedication to labels nor concern with being on the cutting edge. 

Instead, Be Kind. hones in on the hard to pin down idea of dancefloor discipleship; the simultaneously ubiquitous and unique experience of interconnectivity that floods nightclubs, warehouses, lounge rooms or paddocks whenever something resembling a beat collides with a group of friends (past, present or future).

Wiggly worm acid lines tie together perfectly accessible house and techno, helter skelter stylistic choices are wrapped in warm low end hugs and, most importantly, each track receives a Be Kind. kiss on the forehead. Shell Tape 75 - Be Kind. - "Dancefloor Disciples"

Protean producer Steve Miggedy Maestro returns as his Afro House moniker, this time with a full-length album exploring the genre's many textures and flavours.

The floor where he stamped scattered into a million pieces, converting itself to  cloud before becoming the ground again. This would commence a series of movements from either side of the floor, each one delivered with enough force to destine the whole area they occupied for sublimation. But this wasn't an act of violence, it was a demonstration of connectedness - to the earth and those with whom they shared it.

Belizian Voodoo Priest is one of five aliases associated with Steve Miggedy Maestro. Having previously collaborated with the likes of Steve ‘Silk’ Hurley, Janet Jackson, George Clinton and Faith Evans, 'Drums On The One' sees the Chicago producer goes solo with 12 tracks which explore the most jubilant intersection of afro house, tribal and deep house.

'Dance To The Bass (MS III Drum & Bass Mix)' carries with it an infectious energy, courtesy of a deep pulsating bass and sharp claps which are later filled out by hi-hats and a funky bassline melody. It embodies the midpoint between the album's cooler, more club-oriented sounds, and those warmer and more soulful. Glistening electronica from Bristol-based DJ, producer and radio host Bex.

Bex made her production debut towards the end of last year, with Mantissa 002 continuing to showcase her emotions-led style - creating worlds and melodies to get lost into. With residencies on Noods and 1020 Radio, Bex also runs the Women’s Producer Group and has gigs coming up with Tim Reaper, Bluetoof, Luka Una and more. 

Marking the second release on Mantissa’s label arm, the release also includes a remix from ‘Unknown Artist’ on the final track.
