KekaiUnknown, born on May 9th, 2002, and raised in the sun-drenched landscapes of Yuma, Arizona to create an emotional yet impactful art piece. Starting art from a Young age within an already artistic family he found inspiration throughout. Especially his Grandpa Gerry Ahyo, a Vietnam War Veteran who passed away in 2011 when he was 9 years old, was an artist himself. Kekai states “My Grandpa was always doing art forms when I was growing up: Music, Drawing, Writing, Puzzles, Sculpting, and more… He never was not doing something creative even till the end and that made me always want to do art.” He passed this love for art down to all of his children who have used art throughout their lives. Impacting his oldest daughter Lokelani Ahyo the mother of Kekai whose art range has no expense of forms such as Painting, Dancing, Crystal Jewelry, and many more. Through the influence of her father she passed this love for art down to Kekai who has made art a core thing in his life. A big influence to Kekai is his Uncle Pat who loves to draw, designing the first ever tattoo of  Kekai which was drawn on the back of a grocery list and also a family heirloom tattoo. Kekai has found love in all art forms especially Photography, Graphic Design, and Music and with heavy mental health struggles and challenges throughout this, The love for art has become a core grounding in who Kekai is and how he believes and invites the world where vulnerability is celebrated.
