The Labyrinth 19 Live @ Ministry of Sound London 2-21-14

This month, we explore the concept of anicca, the Buddhist word for impermanence or change. The mix weaves through sounds that are bombastic vs modest, dark vs light, groovy vs trippy, haunting vs heavenly, and so on...My approach to DJing is to keep sounds and feelings in a constant state of flux, never getting stuck in a single place. I believe a well-crafted mix is a metaphor for life: anicca, anicca...constantly changing, changing...

Broken Bells - Holding On For Life (Zeds Dead Remix)

In this long over due live mix I had the pleasure of leaning into the theme of the festival, Pynk VINTAGE, and let go of my ego of playing ONLY the best NEW music.  I took the opportunity to weave in and out of some pivotal songs from the last 12+ years of underground house music & techno, blending soundscapes, remixing old classics and weaving in new songs as well.  The entire set I utilized 3 CDJS creating long mixes while moving quickly through songs to keep the flow exciting and utilizing multiple layers to remix the last decade of house music.  I hope you enjoy the journey of the new and the old.

This was my 3rd year at Burning Man, and hands down my favorite year to date. Playing the Robot Heart bus is a spiritual experience, and I really tried to make my musical selection this year tell a story and inspire people. I'd like to  thank my BM crew this year - The Castillos, Berge, and Eduardo - for being so positive and loving. Extra special thanks goes out to Benjamin, Swamy, and Dill for having me at Robot Heart again this year, and creating the best possible platform to share music on the Playa! I always thought of the last mix Rain Logic as being part of a set that covers a full range of experiences. Crafting this as the followup came out of exploring lots of older music while sorting through old vinyl as well as exploring for new sounds. One of my favorite artists, without surprise, is Oliver Lieb, who through his LSG alias expanded the boundaries of techno at the time with his elements of trance, which, before it became a polarizing genre, was an apt description of an encapsulated feeling.  As such, listening to his LP "Train of Thought" many times over, and revisiting James Holden's Balance mix, this followup "Storm Logic" takes a similar direction of trance music without trance records.  Its a heavily layered mix that punishes at times but always has a push and pull for relief from the chaotic moments.

KELLAM: March 2015  Beach Vibes @ W Retreat Koh Samui  2.28.15

My May mix is a tribute to a dear friend of mine who has gone to a musical place in the sky.  My beautiful brother had such a wonderful influence on me as a wonderful spirit and as a DJ. I hear his influence on me every time I play earthy, as he coined "Celestial" vibes... In fact yesterday morning before the news, I was I was discussing with another dear friend how we were worried something may have happened to Christian, our friend wondering if he were alright since we hadnt heard from him for a few days... Directly After I recorded a new music mix.... Listening back to it on my flight to Houston I could hear him speaking to me through the music and his profound affect on me, like he was having a conversation with me... His loving and soulful presence is in this mix- I am posting it as a tribute as my May mix.  I hope this musical conversation I had with him speaks to you all as well and helps to center you and guide you through some quite moments in celebration of our brother and Peaceful Warrior, Christian Alexander.   I left a long moment of silence at the end in his honor.

KELLAM, aka Kelly Kellam, is a DJ, music producer and event producer out of New York City.  He has held residencies in NYC, Las Vegas, as well as holding the position of music director & resident DJ for the W Hotels in south east Asia in 2015. While there he produced and played events with Thugfucker, Eric Volta, Signal Flow, Tara Brooks, My Favorite Robot, A Guy Called Gerald, Graham Gold, the Robot Heart crew and many others.  He is also the founder & curator of Access Underground; a select podcast series supported as a featured channel on Mixcloud.com.
He has played all over the world and along side an incredibly long list of industry icons, from Asia, Europe, Africa, to all over the United States. Having played sets on the legendary Robot Heart bus at burning man, peak hour at the legendary Output in NYC, or sunrises at festivals around the world, he has an incredible ability to tune his dynamic sound to the vibe and take people on a journey.
