ALL ABOARD THE 707 COLSEN EXPRESS

So there was this night where I was told a rooster killed his owner with a knive , there was this cute girl who's name I forgot with an even cuter dog named Eleven, we ate some tabouléh and we drank natural wine.
There were 2 CDJs hooked up to a classic 707 scratch mixer.

"The rooster, with a 3-inch knife tied to its leg, fluttered in panic and slashed its owner in the groin, causing the owner to bleed out.
The rooster was taken into custody and is being kept at a local farm.
Thousands of roosters die in bloodsports each year.
A handful of humans have also been killed at the events."

This is for all the roosters out there.

169 Minutes of opening duty at Beate Uwe's Sunday floofy wonderland.
One of those extremely rare occassions where I actually prepared a 120 minute set (there was that extra lil bit of nerves when you share the line up with the incredible @Ninze going live for 3 hours), only to hear shortly before going into my last 2 tracks I get 40 extra minutes of playtime due to unfortunate technical difficulties for the next artist.
But we all know, Colsen loves nothing more than unexpected extended sets :)

Here's my story to you, all of you who love Sunday,
and Monday just a lil bit less.

Probably the coziest club in town , one of the best mixers, soundsystems AND crowds and absolutely lovely staff, all the way from the front to the back <3
Is there anything better than keeping it 104 BPM on carpets all the way up until behind the dj booth on a Sundaynight?

This is actually the 3rd set in a series of 6, reviving the soul of the early morning before in a slightly slower way.
Nevertheless it turned out to be the perfect way to start.

Sunday resurrection pt. 1 - SLOW

When you decide to stay the night in on a ridiculously hot Sundaynight and spontaneously play 6 two hour sets.
A series in which I happily take you through my collection of electronic masterpieces inspired by the magic taking place in the after hours.

Part 2 in the series of 6, recorded right after SLOW.
When the temperature slowly gets higher in the late Sundayafternoon, the BPM does as well, but the beat, like your sweaty skin, sticks close to something deeper, 

I love to play with outro's and loops to create something temporary, yet infinite, inbetween tracks.
This particular way of mixing always takes control of me in the atmosphere of the after hours, no matter what crowd or genre..

Very happy with this specific part of the series, a lot of tracks I've always had a deep connection with found its way into these 2 sweaty hours.

This one was recorded during sunset, when the moon trades places with the sun for a while.
A certain sense of silent freedom is hanging in the night air when the world around you turns off the light and goes to sleep.
Many sleepless nights throughout half of my life have only been feeding my love for music.

Sunday resurrection pt. 3 - QUATORZE MERVEILLES

After finishing the Sunday resurrection series, we were all hungry for more... Or when a spontaneous act turns into a good habit.

The next series were all recorded on a Monday after hour.
Monday Memories brings you mainly tracks I've discovered in the past 6 months.
To me personally, these are my favorite recordings so far.
Slow and creative mixing, respect for every track but most of all, these recordings go pretty deep while maintaining a slower BPM

Inspired by the after hour, that beautiful utopia somewhere on an Acker around Lärz, love and everything that comes with it.

Monday Memories pt. 1 - HOLLYWOODSCHAUKEL

The second part of Monday Memories pulls you into a 4 hour long journey.

An intimate selection of deep & uplifting, the occasional vocal here and there guides you further through my story.
Especially in the afterhours I respect each track and like in the Sunday Resurrection series, I get creative with intro's and outro's.
Just as you respect each moment in life and it's in between where we get creative to get to the next moment.
At some point you would almost forget to perceive time or life forwards...

Time, love, magic & life, all explained through music.
You can feel it, but you can't describe it.
What is the sound of a feeling?
Is it the silence in between?

Monday Memories pt. 2 - VON NÜSCHT KOMMT NÜSCHT

The last chapter of my favorite series so far.
There's always this little something that crawls deeper, this tiny psychedelic detail, some spiraling loop or an unexpected silence.

I absolutely love this last one, a lot of future nostalgia in the selected tracks here.

Mixing in the after hours makes me surprise myself, a way I've discovered where music can somehow love you back.
"The only thing that counts is respect."

Black & Weihnachten pt. 1

Part 1 of this series starts after seeing Elias Doré setting the lovely Beate Uwe on fire so what better way to baptise this chapter as LIFE AFTER BEATE.
The first half an hour of this set is situated well above my beloved 100 BPM which was also needed to maintain the energy of the afterhour crowd that was attending.
Slowly but surely I take it down while I take you on another trip through my collection.

Some not so recent favorites, tributes to previous musical heroes, flashbacks to beautiful Ackermoments around Lärz, some tracks that I just can't get enough from and keep on appearing in multiple sets and then some.

As this one was recorded in the early afternoon it ain't always perfect but at least it's fucking honest and if there's one thing I absolutely worship in this world, it's honesty.

Summer started and I played somewhere new and somewhere old.
Here's something I played a while ago in the presence of a not so old yet very dear friend.
Some more psychedelic wave-like tracks taking me back 15 years to my heart for punk and psychedelic rock slowly but steadily picking up the pace, breaking it a bit down again just to smack some synths in your face and then slowly bringing you down again to a perfect welcome of a warm dancefloor.

It takes some time to build up resulting in a sweet blend of what I loved, what I will love and what I'll always love.

This year I wanted to approach music differently and I've been fooling around with some loops, edits and ideas.
I got out of bed on a Saturday and dived into my music, my heart and my soul and this is what came out.

It's about 10 years ago Guy J released a beautiful remix of "As You Fall" by the amazing "Bent".
The original was released 15 years ago, exactly the amount of years I've been playing around with music.
Whatever it is I'm doing, it has absorbed half of my life and with it, myself completely.

I recorded the sample used at the end of the movie and rediscovered Exit 9 by No Accident in Paradise.
In light of these current times and the past year, I chopped up the sample, slapped an LFO over it, tweeked the delay and put one and two together.
