Is it a samba? Probably. It also depends on how broadly you define a samba. Percussion comes in heavy later in the piece with a pile of street drummers for a thicker feel. I'm having a hard time describing the exact groove of this piece. "Slightly whiter than average samba"?

Relaxing Piano Music

You know what's cool? A standpipe in the winter. I imagine this one with a hip mustache and a plaid beret. Enough of the imagery, this is a little downtempo chill piece with lush horn punctuation. Suitable for: walks in the rain, time-lapse videos, sad cooking shows.

I was commissioned to do some music for the play "Twas The Night Before Christmas" by Ken Ludwig. The mp3 download here is the main holiday-themed rap from near the end of the play. The uncompressed download comes with that as well as the Girl/Mouse rap from earlier in the play - which you can hear on Soundcloud as "La Souris". The full download also has the exciting fanfare intros to the holiday rap.

This epic 41-minute relaxing juggernaut is a continually changing yet always pleasant piece. How pleasant? Very, very pleasant. You can just put this one on and drift away to the imagined utopian land of your choosing! Suitable for day-spa background music, dental office calming music, very long form landscape or train videos, governmental intake and processing videos. The uncompressed download does not contain separate files, just the one big 650 meg wav file.

Garden Music

Only 6 monophonic synths and a drum set in this entire, extremely peppy, undeniably enthusiastic, off-kilter, oddly satisfying electronic piece! Even at that, it gets pretty dense near the end. Try this one! You'll like it! (you'll probably like it... figure about 90 percent guaranteed to like this piece by the end.) The uncompressed download comes with a mix done using electronic drums. It has a very different and more machine-like feel. Chances you'll like that one are lower... but it is totally usable for a harsher feel.

This was a quick improvisation that turned out pretty listenable! Original title was "Sofa King Beautiful", but I figured "Fresh Air" worked better. Since this is a piece for solo keyboard, I included four alternate keyboards in the uncompressed download. They all have subtly different feels. Electric Piano, Grand Piano, Spinet Piano (out of tune), and a piano where you tap the strings rather than hit it with the hammers.

Slowly building tension power that really gets going when the super gnarly drums kick in after the violas... sort of in the section with the trumpet.... then there's this part that's all like "AHHHH AHHHHHH AAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!" And then there's some more "AHHHHHHHHH" and then even more and its like a new key or something, and the drums are all distorted and slammin', and then there's this wwwwwwhhhhHHHHHOOOOOOOSHHHH!!!! and some more french horn majesty - and like another keychange or something... but definitely some bass drum. The big bass drum that you stand up and hit with a mallet... not the kind you stick on the floor... and stomp on a pedal that is attached to a mallet that hits the floor drum.
