2015 is proving to be a busy year for George Papadopoulos (aka Hior Chronik), whose third full-length album ‘Taking The Vail’ (Kitchen. Label) and collaborative double-vinyl project with Arovane ‘In-between’ (A Strangely Isolated Place) are due to be released within the year. ‘The First Ray’ (Sun Sea Sky Productions) sees Hior Chronik collaborating with prolific Grecian electronica artist Mikaël Delta, and kicks off a semi-regular series of collaborations from the artist on the imprint.

Drones and ambient fields drench this release with an emotional frequency full of strength, inner treasures and awakening - creating an exquisite recording that attempts to transcend the temporal or physical, replacing these instead with the light of consciousness.

Mikaël Delta & Hior Chronik - The First Ray (Sampler)

"Flying monkeys" (qv) is a term originating from The Wizard of Oz that describes people who act as enablers, messengers, tools, or agents for a narcissist or abusive person. These individuals carry out the abuser's wishes, which often involve spreading lies and half truths, gossiping, manipulating, or gaslighting the victim to maintain control and uphold the abuser's false reality. 

Flying monkeys can be friends, family, or associates who, consciously or unconsciously, enable the abuser's behavior and harm their target whilst shifting the focus away from their chameleon selves. With ever changing and often contradictory untruths the abuser will make out that the target is the villain in an ongoing soap opera that will make those involved believe they are justified in the target's persecution, whilst avoiding a direct confrontation themselves. 

But - wear it as a badge of honour if you are targeted - when those so cowardly have to raise an army to bring you down, who holds the real power? What are they so desperately trying to hide?

Ironically, the flying monkey oftentimes knows the truth already, but has an unconscious grievance of their own with the target or is fearful of becoming a target themselves. Alternatively, upon finding out the truth, that they have been mislead and used, will double down, resenting the truth and its teller in order to avoid feeling foolish. It is easier to fool someone, than to persuade them that they have been fooled after all...

No one can hurt another without leaving scars on their own soul. Truth never disappears, it just hides in silence.... but what is buried only sleeps.
