»Orange Evening« (A1) shuffles a warm groove as you watch the first leaves dance in the wind, from the rocking chair on your grandpa’s porch – just the right spot for some »Big Tales« (A2) that paint a picture of times you never saw, but still remember. Thankfully, nobody judges us around here, so put on your »Dirty Dress« (B1) once again as the tempo turns up a notch.

After the success of her first self-released EP “The Suspended Kid”, Sevdaliza releases her second batch of enigmatic songs on “Children of Silk”. The songstress/producer draws her influences from several textures like skin and glass. Sevdaliza’s melancholic visceral voice floats over beds of mechanical instrumentation, creating dynamics of chaos and order. Her songs have a philosophical questioning character, subjects like gender diversification and perception of emotion are strongly present. Diverse comparisons have been drawn yet it remains a difficulty to specify her in a particular genre. Rhythmic tensions build slowly into chaotic climaxes. Every retribution of her lyrics becomes more intense and personal, yet she isn’t able to break from that obscure statue of a woman. Children of Silk is now available worldwide via Itunes/Spotify.

just starting...beats here aren't ridiculously aweful but didn't spend any time working that angle.

this is a rhythm sketch i made over the weekend ; it will likely be absorbed into something else entire, but i kinda liked it as it, and decide to share it ... i think i'm getting the hang of this drum machine thang

trying breakbeat-ish.
the mix doesn't totally suck but i can think of a few more things i'd like to hit it with before calling it finished: some panning headphone candy on one of the perc tracks, some cut-up vox maybe, and a bit more polish on the transitions.

getting freaky with distortion and drums and violins.  all the while trying like hell to pay attention to song structure instead of getting lost in picking textures and the like.  it's like trying to write a book instead of choosing your background color and font.  as such i had to resist putting even more in here... i'm surprised the mix sounds as balanced as it does.

monkeying around with envs/filters.  this was generated with 3 tracks each being driven by a separate filter env... each of those was driven by the same midi track repurposed to be a parameter automator.  don't ask why i did that... i was just monkeying around with trying to create a monster parameter driver in ableton w/o having to resort to putting it all into max.

To commemorate Tony Allen's passing last Thursday and celebrate his infectious drums sound, we share today the official solo track of his drums take on @sebastien-tellier cult song "La Ritournelle". 

Tony Allen was a maestro. His torso wouldn’t move when he played the drums. He never hit hard, his speciality was extreme subtlety. He played the drums on "La Ritournelle" in one take, then he had to pick up his kid at school!

sort of a low/hi c drone with a melody build-up in the middle.  i was using phrase repetition and interpolation with slight modification as a way to help me learn to create interest.  i have more to work with here so a few more sequences to go.
