For our 30th entry, we welcome KICK to the series with this fast, airy and very percussive-centric Techno set. Opening on a spacey and ethereal note before going into rave overdrive, this one will take you back to the late-late hours of City Club on Movement weekend.

This is a return to The Great Beyond ‘24, & a re-recording of the set I played there at 11am Saturday 7/27. Had the pleasure of opening the Communion stage, & brought out some ambient, dubby, acidic, & minimal selections to start out day 2 of the festival. 🌀 

Due to some tech issues I didn’t get a suitable recording at the fest, however, this one is essentially the same mix in essence & track list. My goal was to capture the same energy & playfulness as the original, & I think this one does it well. Hope you enjoy  🐐

London-based DJ and producer Ammara has broken through with a high-tempo, rave-ready sound that combines elements of hard house, trance, techno, and pop melodies. With releases on Ministry of Sound and Speedmaster Records—and having been named a Radio 1 Future Star—Ammara is one of the most exciting new talents in dance music right now.

Born in the UK but raised in Spain, Ammara’s return to Britain as a teenager sparked a dance music obsession. “I’d go to the Junction in Cambridge weekly with my friends,” she recalls. “And see all the big drum ‘n’ bass DJs. That really sparked something in me.”

Moving to London in her late teens to study acting, Ammara immersed herself in the city’s club culture, heading to Fabric every weekend and exploring a wide range of electronic music sounds. Her acting studies paid off with a coveted role at the Globe Theatre, but juggling an acting career with her growing interest in DJing and producing soon led to a turning point. “I was doing well in the play but then we had two weeks off and I went to Ibiza partying,” she explains. “I loved acting and being in the play, but I just knew deep down that music was what I really wanted to do.”

Determined to hone her production and DJing skills, her career took a steep upward curve when she sent her track “Acid Fantasy” to Patrick Topping in 2020. The track was signed by his label Trick, and in 2021 the “Acid Fantasy” EP was released. In 2022, she dropped the tough and uncompromising “Techno Tree” with Will Clarke, and 2023 saw her unleash the single “Honey Child,” which even featured a remix from her hard house heroes, Klubbheads.

Truncate Takeover 2025 DJ Contest : Kevin Bithell

Our June 2025 ‘Monthly Techno Mixshow’ features a one hour, fourteen minute mix from Josh Tong.  This closing set was recorded live for the Entropoic x Green Machine show at Smartbar in Chicago on 12/5/24.

Josh Tong is a classically trained artist and DJ specializing in textural, atmospheric, and ethereal techno. He takes a methodical and intentional approach to his sets reflecting the ways in which classical concertos are structured and fabricated. This curious approach illustrates the harmonious flow of energy between melodic elements and atmospheric tones through deeply layering tracks creating soundscapes rather than a singular sound. 

His thoughtful, philosophical approach to music guides his project, Entropic - a music-centered experience and platform that transcends genres and honors DJing as an artform always pushing the boundaries of sound and space. Josh has showcased local talent through Entropic at Chicago’s beloved Smartbar and continues to build community through these deliberate iterations. He is also a resident of Chicago’s techno collective and label, Format.
