Chart topping dance music sensation Duke Dumont presents a new offering from his imprint and artist collective with ‘The Mara EP’ coming courtesy of fellow London-based producer and DJ, Kiwi. 

A sterling three-tracker, ‘The Mara’ can be heard alongside an edit from the label boss Duke Dumont himself and b-side addition ‘Gerenuk’.  

'Hearing the demo of ‘The Mara’, it made me regress to the time I spent in the rainforest, chilling with the Chieftains and drinking ayahuasca,” explains the Duke. 

“The obscure sounds of exotic bird mating calls which I heard are replicated in the synth chirps and tonal aspects of this track. Ultimately though, I signed the song because of the unique character Kiwi has created sonically. Character within electronic music is usually hard to find, but Kiwi has achieved this effortlessly.”

Venezuelan wonder producers Fur Coat step up for a triumphant return to their spiritual home of Crosstown Rebels armed with a solid stack of weapons to vamp up the dancefloor. Showcasing the duo’s most thoughtful and restrained material to date, the ‘U Turn EP’ is a deep and moody tour de force, technically on point and awash with hypnotic bleeps, dramatic tension and shards of vintage techno. Fur Coat is one of the most hard-working and passionate duos in the business. House legend and Rinse FM resident Shadow Child has teamed up with Doorly on new single ‘Climbing (Piano Weapon)’, which is now available to stream on Soundcloud. Following a premiere on Annie Mac’s Radio 1 show, the new vocal version of 'Piano Weapon' (co-written by MNEK) will be released by Polydor Records this November. Following a run of remixes for big names such as Hot Natured, London Grammar and most recently Duke Dumont, Shadow Child is currently working on original material and playing a run of live dates in Ibiza and across the UK including a London show supporting the legendary Groove Armada.
 
Simon Neale’s darker, bass-heavy alter ego Shadow Child was born in 2012 with the signing of his bassline house classic ‘String Thing’ to Dirtybird Records. Championed across the world by DJs including Annie Mac, Jamie Jones and Eats Everything, Shadow Child’s early house tracks have attracted a global fan base. Now playing the closing shows on his Summer 2014 tour, Shadow Child will be hitting the studio to complete his debut full-length release. Chambray's Rub EP made the club go boom; the remixes of Chambray's Rub EP will make the club go bang. On November 17, Ultramajic will liberate four souped-up reworks of the Berlin producer's debut EP, which were helmed by Len Faki, Bodyjack, The Hacker, and DJ Haus. Each contributor adds a distinct flavor to the Berliner's original productions. First up is French rave titan The Hacker, who twists "Ghetto Giants" into a slinky beat decked with pings, bleeps and a touch of sonic haze. Berghain mainstay Len Faki equips "Untitled" with a frog-marching techno kick, twittering percussion, and a breakdown so brooding you can practically taste the fog machine. In Bodyjack's hands, the same track becomes a buoyant house tool with acid croaks and vocal yelps, while Unknown to the Unknown label boss DJ Haus brings dry Chicago percussion to the fore on his remix of "Rub," which pits hypnotic stabs against a melody composed of acidic bass blobs.

London-based DJ and producer Anii is welcomed to the AEON fold with her mystical ​​Magic EP. She invites the indomitable forces of Man Power and Kiwi to each provide their own take on her original productions.
Speaking of the EP ​Anii ​​explains that she had ​“been working on it for the last couple of years. It’s a project I saved and changed so many times, that I even forgot to name it. In the end I thought the name can just be Magic!”.
Opening the EP, ​Magic is littered with glistening percussion, tribal drums and mysterious exotic undertones. It’s an immersive track and one that begs you to get lost in it its rhythm. Me Me Me label boss Man Power adds a harder edge to his extended version that veers off midway with a huge, pounding bass and a furious flurry of synths. Trojan Horse ​is a dark and hypnotic affair with middle-eastern influences and industrial percussion. Kiwi puts his own stamp on the closing track adding a low, growling bass and subtle distortions.
Anii is living proof that hard work pays off. Since arriving in London from her native Poland, she’s earned a solid reputation for playing high quality melodic techno and has appeared on line ups alongside Kolsch, KiNK and Michael Mayer. She’s had releases on revered imprints including Kompakt and Polymath, and this latest EP on Alex Niggemann’s esteemed label marks the beginning of a fruitful relationship.

Here Mixmag debuts Kiwi's rolling techno ballad 'LakE'. With relentlessly punchy drums and frenzied arpeggiation, the track builds with a chattering vocal, making it a hypnotic anthem packed with energy.

The 'Jack Come Back / LakE' EP is set for release February 8.

He does not play rugby nor are kiwis his favorite fruits - the  artist moniker Kiwi is the result of looking at rotten Kiwis on Alex Warren's kitchen table and the fact that he only had little time to come up with an artist name after he had signed his first record deal. Since then the Londoner has taken the scene by storm and released music on renowned labels such as Correspondant, Disco Halal, Optimo, Futureboogie and many more. His latest signing, 'LakE/ KatE' on Fort Romeau and Ali Tillett's Cin Cin label. The two tracks not only complement each other because the track-titles rhyme but also at a musical level. Kiwi continues to walk his futuristic disco influenced path with both tracks whilst 'KatE's' convincing elements are definitely the double bass slaps adding drive at the low-frequencies while the lopped synth-pads provide the same at a mid- and high-range and subsequently gain a different note with delaying distant voices.

‘’You Want Her Too’’ is a playful, low slung stomper featuring a slowed-down House beat, pads and a catchy oddball chant from Warren himself. ‘’Peeling Oranges’’ ups the NRG and uses an Italo-strength arpeggiated bass-line to great effect, result in a peak time electronic Disco smash. Both tracks feature alternative 7'' and digital mixes.

Juho Paalosmaa and Jori Hulkkonen are Sin Cos Tan, “a synthesized duo of great promise, broken dreams, and long nights” who released their critically acclaimed self-titled debut album in November 2012 to a great reception. During the summer the band will be finishing their follow-up album planned for release later in 2013, but in the meantime My Favorite Robot enlist some big time remixers to tackle the duo’s back catalogue, with Mark E and Kris Wadsworth those given the nod.
 
‘Not Over’ is the first track to get a treatment from slo-disco specialist and Ghostly associate Mark E (it also comes in a dub version). He breaks the track down to crunchy claps and a slowly stepping, thick synth bass line that percolates up through the track over and over. The airy vocals remain in tact from the original as nebulous melody lines and sultry saxophones float around in cosmic harmony. 
 
It’s then the turn of Berlin based Atlanta born bad boy Kris Wadsworth to re-interpret ‘History’, and he does so with his usual panache. The lines are all skewed, the textures raw and unpolished and the mood edgy as crackles of hiss and static pollute the airwaves whilst heavy, lumped drums kick below. Things grow increasingly lively with the dancing synthesized melodies that appear part way in to the track and also release some tension. The vocal takes on a more haunted characteristic in Wadsworth’s hands 
 
Finally, we’re also treated to an Extended Dance mix of the militant tech house stomper that is ‘Trust’ with its loose percussion, taught bassline grumbles and celestial, skyward melodies. The breakdown is shrouded in echo and as a result the vocal drifts on air before the track kicks again in a macho nu disc style akin to the sort of thing Andrew Weatherall might employ. 
 
Some fine A&R here has breathed plenty of new life into some already classic tracks by Sin Cos Tan.

Toronto’s My Favorite Robot Records look to the second remix package taken from Farimont’s superb recent album ‘Automaton’…
 
Fairmont’s third studio album ‘Automaton’ was released on My Favorite Robot Records in 2012 to a rapturous response from fans and press alike. The deft fusion of vocal indie tinged songs with richly layered electronica had producers lining up to remix tracks from the LP leading to not one but two remix singles featuring album highlights remixed by the great and the good. Part one saw an outstanding selection that featured an epic remix from Ewan Pearson amongst others, now the second package is ready to drop with a killer remix selection.
 
The EP kicks off with the holy pairing of Ivan Smagghe and Tim Paris under their It’s a Fine Line moniker who take ‘Creatures of the Night’ and rework it into a robotic and glitch electro influenced offering. Metronomic clicks and bleeps blend with rich bass and syncopated rhythms to provide a solid bed for Fairmont’s spacey vocal deliver, quality stuff. Next up we have the excellent Nhar who gives ‘Sara’ a makeover, coming up with a blissful, balaeric house workout that is pure audio pleasure, an unmissable laid back gem that is essential listening for the summer ahead.
 
Remix duties for ‘Waiting’ fall to label bosses and Canadian super heroes My Favorite Robot who strip the original back and rebuilt it as a pulsing, dark slice of electronica replete with brooding pads and angular synths, sublime. The package is closed with another Canadian pairing, this time between No.19 Music owner Nitin and Clayton Steele who take ‘Libertine’ and twist it into a piece of brilliant percussive techno.
 
Another winner from My Favorite Robot record, so no surprises there then!

Alex ‘Kiwi’ Warren’s passion for music has been a fire that has long burned within. From humble beginnings as an in-house photographer for the world-famous DURRR club-night, started by Erol Alkan’s much celebrated Trash team, to the runaway success of his own club nights, it’s his prolific productions and genre blending extended dj sets that are now catapulting him into the spotlight .
Warren’s success as a one-man promotions company, cultivating his ever popular club-night, Orlando Boom and its disco-focussed sister night, Kate Boss, caught the attention of The Columbo Group who swiftly appointed him as their booking and promotions manager for The Nest.

Kiwi soon realised that he had more to offer than just his promoter skills and he began to channel his energy into playing and creating music. Releases on Days of Being Wild, Jack Savidge and Edwin Congreave’s highly acclaimed Deep Shit, DFTD, Optimo, Moda Black, Sneaky Music and Virgin EMI followed, and in 2015, his track Short Tail was nominated for Song Of The Year at the DJ Mag Best Of British awards. He’s produced an abundance of remixes for high-profile artists such as; Who Made Who, Locassolus, Paramida, Is Tropical, The Klaxons and more. This incredible output has earned him a wealth of support from some of the scenes biggest names including; Andrew Weatherall, DJ Harvey, Gerd Janson, Daniel Avery, Erol Alkan, Optimo, Rob da Bank, Annie Mac and Skream.

2017 saw the release of his Orca EP on Bristol’s Futureboogie imprint with the title track receiving rave reviews in Mixmag and topping the dance charts on Juno and Beatport for seven weeks. This was swiftly followed by releases on Dusky’s 17 steps, and a vinyl-only release alongside Joakim on DJ Tennis’ Life and Death. As well as being busy in the studio, Kiwi has also been out on the road touring Asia twice, North America and Europe. Add to that a packed festival season and holding down his residency at XOYO in London, Kiwi has carved out a name for himself with his all night long DJ sets that effortlessly blend balearic, disco, house, Detroit techno and everything in between.

2018 was a big one for the DJ Mag nominee, with a string of releases gaining notoriety on the likes of Moscoman’s Disco Halal and a new one for 17 Steps, as well as a return to Correspondent and releases on Cin Cin and Needwant to come.

2019 marked a pivotal milestone in Alex’s career. In April, he launched his brand new imprint Crossbreed, with the inaugural CRBD01 released in conjunction with Italy’s finest export DJ Rocca. The ethos of the label is the notion that working together breeds great things, and it is not hard to see this belief in the debut EP.

Having made a strong start with the first three collaborative releases, the label continues into 2020 as a mouthpiece to showcase records that represent Alex’s ideas; and with a knack for selecting off-kilter, leftfield releases, Crossbreed is set to make impressive waves within the electronic music scene.
