Disquiet0476 Houston Noise Clouds

This week's prompt was based off of a photo of Houston (which is the image I've used for my track) and we were told this image was the cover art for our new track--so write a track for it. I liked the dark haziness of the photo, but there's also plenty of cars and traffic that we're looking down on.

This week's track represents some firsts for me in the Junto. First, it is composed of three tracks, one of those tracks was recorded in stereo, and I used some plugins. The first track is an airy chord whose timbre is being modulated (Ensemble into LRMSMSLR, with M into QPAS and S into Mimeophon)with all modulation controlled by 16n. I recorded this track in stereo (placed center) and ran it through Valhalla Supermassive into Wavesfactory Cassette. The second track (panned to the right) is Tetrax into Bastl Thyme, which is run into Valhalla Shimmer into Wavesfactory Cassette. The third track is STO into LXd with a pattern from Control Forge run into LXd's strike. This went through Panharmonium and was processed with a touch of Valhalla FreqEcho.

Before Jumping From A Balcony (disquiet0476)

I hadn't been aware of Disquiet Junto until yesterday morning, when I saw the attached image and the words "This is the cover of your next image". Challenge accepted.

This was recorded in Logic pretty quickly... I started with a grungy texture bed, to fit that murky fog, and I wasn't really intending to do much more. But then I experimented with a booming kick drum, which naturally required some tinkling hi hats. That, along with the image of traffic, encouraged a bit more motion from a bouncing arpeggiator.

Next up a big brass swell, very slowly dialling up the treble, and a quite nasty synth through a guitar amp with tremolo.

To top it all off and be a little literal, I added some found sound. In this case, I found it among Logic's included library of atmospheric sounds. It's cold out, and I don't feel like hanging around on a busy street holding a microphone.

Everything drenched in varying amounts of reverb, and a lot of the treble has been rolled back. (see 'fog' above.)
