Here we are at mix 100 of our series with an exclusive mix from none other than Chicago legend and founding father of the footwork genre, producer and DJ, RP Boo! The originator, the inspiration, and the cornerstone on which the entire genre has been built on.
    RP Boo started making tracks in 1995 inspired by the house music around him in Chicago. By bumping up the tempo of ghetto house he established a new template that lit a fire under an entire generation of dancers and producers. He created numerous unreleased tracks before experiencing his personal breakthrough with 1997's ‘Baby Come On’ – a composition many cite as the first Footwork track (find it on the Planet Mu's ‘Classics Vol 1’).
    RP Boo's essential first album, 2013's ‘Legacy’ caused a storm of acclaim worldwide as people finally started to piece together his true place in Footwork and the powerful legacy of his work as an innovator. In parallel with productions, his always on-point DJ sets have lit up festivals and clubs worldwide and continue to do so to this day, notably leading to him being named one of the ‘100 World’s Best DJs’ by DJ Mag.
    This Friday he releases  ‘Legacy Vol.2’ on Planet Mu, continuing his story. Featuring tracks created between 2002 and 2007, this is a wonderous selection of material, some known, some unknown.
    RP Boo continues to produce and tour around the world, spreading good vibes, and joy everywhere he lands. The enduring success of his music proving that there’s still no one quite like him. He is a living legend whose work has influenced us deeply. The collection of music we have chronicled would not exist with out him. We are so honored to be able to showcase a studio mix by one of our heroes! Get into the sound!

This was the opening 2 hours of the night, over the course of the set it goes from Not playing to a single person to playing to a full club. As you can see from the Artwork, on this occasion I set the tone for Alex.do, and then Chris Liebing, which was a huge honour for me. I hope you enjoy the music!

A veteran DJ from Istanbul, Turkey. A part-time DJ and a full-time vinyl junkie, Rubsilent started collecting records back in 1996 and it has been his obsession ever since.
It is interesting to note that he had actually moved to Chicago for University in year 2000, which he notes was partially motivated by his desire to pay a musical pilgrimage to this enormous factory of house music. He moved back to Istanbul in 2007 with a much advanced record collection and inevitably a better knowledge of the rich musical heritage of the sprawling US megacity that is rarely disputed to be the birthplace of house music.

"I enjoy manipulating tracks with longer transitions, taking listeners on long journeys, never limiting my selections to a specific sub-genre. My primary focus is on House and Techno and anything in between, as my mixes contain a blend of new tunes mixed with timeless out-of-print cuts from yesteryear and yesterdecades"

Here's my description on Clash from fall 2012 :
This mix is a soundtrack to your Indian summer, if you’re having one right now, or a mix for those people that are in need of a lil’ sunshine. It’s a very summery/sunny mix to bring you out of your fall funk. Lots of juke/footwork and a lil’ jungle thrown in for good measure. There’s some jokes in there too. I went for the more soulful style of footwork instead of the colder minimal tunes meant more for the dancefloor. I played this exact set at the XLR8R boat party at Dimensions festival in Croatia this summer.

Other than coming across to him spinning carefully selected tunes for creating the best mood at various local spots in his hometown Istanbul such as Wake Up Call, Suma beach, Zorlu Center whether as a warm up DJ for the ones like Tama Sumo, Slam, Lil Louis, Derrick May or as a headliner  don’t be surprised if you stumble upon his name on party posters for sharing the same booth with the ones like Derek Carr at warehouse parties in London, club events in Berlin at places like Homopatik and special guest at boat parties in Belgrade like one of cities best party spot called 20/44.
