Ever since the day they met they were inseparable. From the moment they woke up to the moment they went to bed, they did everything together. It almost seemed too good to be true, as though it was all a facade and behind closed doors: a totally different story. But this image was truly their reality: nothing could ever come between them.

Earlier this year LA-based collective, performance space and archival project Discostan expanded their arsenal, launching their new label arm with a reissue of Pakistani-British singer Nermin Niazi’s 1984 synth-pop masterpiece 'Disco Se Aagay'. As a follow up to the release the label have enlisted the talents of Jeddah-born, Dublin-based producer Moving Still to reimagine two of the original tracks for the club. With releases for Orange Tree and Dar Disku under his belt, he's no stranger to the edit which he showcases on these two Hi-NRG disco remixes, which are backed up on the flip by two experimental reprises and an English version of Nermin's work.

A long-time resident at Barcelona’s legendary Razzmatazz and label head of Factor City for two decades, Undo is a Spanish mainstay with countless releases that have garnered support from the likes of Andrew Weatherall, Roman Flugel and Erol Alkan. He teams up with fellow Spaniard and synth-pop wizard Casiowaves to return for their second collaborative release on Melodize after last year's 'Predict The Future' EP.

The straight-forward 'Casiobass' kicks off with fizzing synth lines, chugging dark disco drums, a fat bass and circling pads. 'Overcruiser' is a pumping, Italo-influenced cut with retro-future chords and a clean, cosmic feel, while 'Something Blue' layers up the crispy analogue drums with sonar pulses, deadpan cold wave vocals and majestic leads that bring color and vibrancy.

Drummer-turned electronic producer and live act Nhar, who boasts an impressive discography spanning two decades, makes his debut on the label with a remix of 'Waves to Come' that brings a widescreen serenity and calm to the original through pensive chord work and starry keys twinkling in the distance. The original then closes out with Balearic guitar licks, punchy drums, and rich bass for a fusion of retro sounds with futuristic sentiment. From the driving Casiobass to the Balearic, serene 'Waves to Come,' Undo & Casiowaves have served up offerings for all hours with the versatile 'Casiobass' EP.

Following his triumphant return to Kompakt with SICKO (KOMPAKT 322), REX THE DOG digs deeper into the circuits of his custom-built modular synth on YOU ARE A BLADE, delivering a powerful trio of sharply contoured jams ready to cut to the chase. A true master of expressive might within a limited set of sounds, the much-acclaimed producer introduces the title track with breezy, shimmering arpeggios that are soon joined by a weighty, throbbing bassdrum - a lean and mean stealth banger that stands as unwavering as it is playful. The flipside builds an impressive amount of momentum as muscular acid-fest MUSIK HYPNOTISES stakes out raw and pounding synth stabs with its titular refrain, giving those straight-shooting riffs a properly wonked-out feel. Emerald and Doreen presents When the World Gets You Down by San Francisco artist JP Soul. Most known for his productions on his label Roam Recordings, his collaborations with 40 Thieves, Anthony Mansfield, and Jeniluv (as JP & Vulinej), JP Soul has started to venture out this year delivering two EPs for Emerald and Doreen, an EP for Nein, as well as contributions to Logical and La Dame Noir. 

Though generally a cheery guy in When the World Gets You Down the artist reflects on the current state of world affairs characterised in the title track with gritty distorted melodies over a driving acid line. The Grind continues this mood with its heavy hitting mid-tempo drive.

Accompanying the two originals is a spectacular guitar laden remix by the impeccable Curses who keeps true to the original while infusing his characteristically tight production and lush soundscape. Up and comers The Shamanic Movement take on The Grind and deliver a darker remix perfect for late night dirty warehouse parties or even dirtier after parties.

Premiere: Holographic Planes - Gaia (Jennifer Cardini Remix)[Critical Monday]

'The latest production team to emerge from Russia's vibrant underground house and disco scene St Petersburg duo Andrey & Stas, aka Radial Gaze, make their debut on Eskimo Recordings this November with 'Totem Echoes'. An eclectic mix of disorientating synths, tribal chants and industrial percussion it's a stunning release from this nascent partnership that recalls the like of Moscoman and fellow countrymen Simple Symmetry. Only the duo's third release 'Totem Echoes' is a powerful, heady track that draws heavily upon their background, Andrey as resident DJ at the Skotny Dvor club and Stas' background as a sound designer and both theatre and musical director, the result unsurprisingly being a dramatic piece of music that's sure to inspire some equally dramatic moves on the Dancefloor. "We were looking for points of perfect resonance," explain the guys, somewhat cryptically. "A concentration of mighty vibrations and a burning synthetic groove. In this bay of multicolored flows, we built the special sand structures that make up this track." Obvious really when you think about it. Accompanying the original we have remixes from Lille based You Man and Amsterdam's SHMLSS. Having made a return from production this year with releases on Tronik Youth's NEIN Records You Man deliver a remix that hones in on the track's industrial elements to create a stripped back, ghostly interpretation, the perfect soundtrack to illegal parties in brutalist concrete car parks. SHMLSS meanwhile continue their winning streak of remixes for Eskimo with another guaranteed floor filler, adopting a more maximalist approach that sees the vocals reduced to staccato blasts, drifting in and out of the mix as fierce synth stabs and cascading metallic percussion maintain the feeling of a track ready to explode at any minute.'

Premiere: Radial Gaze - Totem Echoes (You Man Remix) [Eskimo Recordings]

Her Majesty’s Ship celebrates release number 50 with a fantastic new EP from Mufti ft. Vongold that will be preceded by two singles - ‘Inverse’ on November 6th, then ‘Moonstruck’ on November 20th, before the full EP lands on November 27th with a superb music video to accompany ‘Silence’.

Mufti is Bernardo Barrera, a multi instrumentalist producer from Guadalajara, Mexico. This project comes after being part of Los Fugazzi, and finds him focus more on rock variants and 80’s music. A mix of electronics with disco, electro, EBM and post punk define the sound. Vongold, meanwhile, is Nora Cam, a DJ and producer also from Guadalajara and influenced by genres such as disco, new wave and various girl bands. Her sounds seek to highlight the female voice, merging it with indie dance for an extra special edge.

The idea behind this EP, which draws on the influence of bands like Depeche Mode, Lebanon Hanover and The Kvb, was to "convey how we are constantly feeling anxious and chased by our failures. And
even if we need to scream, the pressure and idealisation of modern life immobilises us and shuts us up."

Opening up the release is the superb ‘Silence’, a slow motion but high impact deep disco cut with a fat bassline and sensuous vocals. ‘Inverse’ is more punchy, with rugged bass and drums run through by
withering sci-fi synths and deadpan vocals from Vongold. ‘Totem’ is an excellent fusion of dark wave styles and crashing hits, it’s a new form of electronic punk that draws you deep into its own unique
sound world. Last of all is ‘Moonstruck’, a prowling late night groove filled with tension and menace.

This is a fittingly standout 50th EP for a label that has very much carved out its own singular place in the electronic music world.
