KENNETH JAMES GIBSON, one of the most multifaceted artists in electronic music today, enlists for the fourth instalment in our POP AMBIENT artist album series - he's the mastermind behind the Adjunct Audio label and projects as diverse as [a]pendics.shuffle, Eight Frozen Modules, Reverse Commuter, neo-americana duo Bell Gardens (with Stars Of The Lid's Brian McBride) or noise pop band Furry Things. On THE EVENING FALLS, he deviates from his other, more beat-infused work and explores vast aural landscapes with an intricately woven tapestry of swelling string drones, shimmering pedal steel and minimalist piano motives.
The first strictly ambient solo offering from this incredibly versatile composer and musician reveals a delicate sense for rich, ruminant textures and fine-grained synth buzz dispensing organic highs on tracks like opening movement TO SEE YOU DRIFT, the Polaroid-colored LONG GONE CANADIAN SUMMER, the meditative A CONVERSATION BETWEEN FRIENDS or terraforming blues LATERAL DECOMPOSITION. The iridescent quality of these recordings almost appears to be born out of an auditory illusion - with the arrangements seemingly evolving in time lapse and slow motion at the same time.
The natural, wholesome flow of the album certainly finds itself influenced by Gibson's recent move to a 6000 ft. mountain community called Idyllwild. While two of the tracks on THE EVENING FALLS were started in LA about two years ago, for them and others to get fully realized, he needed to transition away from inner city roaming: "my wife and I heard the calling of the mountains for a while - getting deeper into meditation and nature and a slower way of life. There've been beatless tracks on many of my albums, but this is the first full-scale ambient album I've done... I simply needed to find the right focus." The result is a masterful new addition to our growing series of Pop Ambient full-lengths, presenting the fully-formed vision of a veteran producer who never lost his taste for sonic adventure.

Peter Michael Hamel emerged from the 70s Krautrock scene dreaming of “the blue flower growing between the milestones on the road to a future world-music”. A truly visionary artist who worked and studied with John Cage, Morton Feldman and Terry Riley, his 1980 Colours of Time LP - an epic, sprawling, 22-minute saga - was hailed by The Guardian’s Rob Fitzpatrick as “an absolute masterpiece of skull-bursting, synth-led ambient minimalism”. Thirty six years on, Astral Industries reinterpret Hamel's original vision with remixes from two contemporary heavyweights - Wolfgang Voigt and Rod Modell (aka Deepchord). Each expansive interpretation invites you to step outside of reality and into an alternative imagination of Hamel's future world, spiralling into the colours and slowly out of time itself. The song “Sunken Skeleton” is the original title of the last song from my latest EP “The Constellation of a Pond”. But after a lot of reworking it got a slightly less dark title and was released under the name “The Moon’s reflection later that night”. So this is an earlier version of the same material, more drone and more, well, sunken.
Alpha Mound is the solo project of Joakim Westlund. Starting out with acoustic songs sprinkled with electronics the musical focused have since shifted to primarily electronic music in the form of ambient and soft-techno. Find more at:www.alphamound.com

As a solo producer, Guillaume was already causing atmospheric disturbances ahead of his debut album “Face À L’Est”, which appeared on Musique Risquee in 2007. Before the inception of his one-man band, Guillaume was moving and shaking with other protagonists via the Egg project with Julien Roy, Chic Miniature with Ernesto Ferreyra and Luci with David Fafard. All these projects share their history with the lauded Mutek festival, which Guillaume has been closely involved with since 2002.

So after a few years hiatus, Guillaume is back with new material released via new Berlin label Dokutoku... we've got the A-side here for your listening pleasure.

Curating their second release on the newly established independent imprint TAU, the Adana Twins are keen to support the best up-and-coming talent from a saturated DJ/Producer market. The second release showcases yet another rising star; Paris-based, Romanian born - BOg.

BOg first broke onto the electronic music landscape after being signed to John Digweed’s ‘Bedrock Records’. 12-years down the line he’s released on Dixon’s Innervisions and Solomun’s Diynamic, BOg is a constant in the record bags of DJs across the globe. Drawing strong influences from bands and artists such as Depeche Mode, The Prodigy, Aphex Twin or The Chemical Brothers, BOg’s ‘Terra EP’ has an evident other-worldly feel.

Innellea returns to TAU002 this time on remix duties, remixing ‘Terra’ and further cementing his position as a core artist on TAU. The B-side remix of ‘Jahar’ comes from Mathias Schober, chosen for the Adana Twins love his sound design and aesthetic, the producer delivers a remix rounding off the solid ‘Terra’ EP.
