It's with great pleasure that we welcome Shun Watanabe aka Doltz (Japan) for our 35th contribution. Doltz is both an artist and a sound designer/producer. Perfectionist and putting an accent on ambient and experimental techno, his work mixes various elements, just like when using different techniques & colors with varying components & textures in his visual artworks. His unique sound evokes electricity on earth, environmental sounds as well as is taking an inspiration into animism — and overall — Doltz deeply intricates the beauty of Technology with Imagination.

An extended mix from Rrose to celebrate our entry into 2023 and the upcoming release of TULIP SPACE [EAUX1591] available for pre-order now at https://eaux.ro/album/tulip-space and the upcoming full-length album PLEASE TOUCH (full announcement in Spring). The mix contains tracks from both releases.

This is a studio mix, started with an initial live take and then combed over meticulously with automated filters, eq, and fx. This is the same setup I use to play out, minus the automation. There is rarely a point when only one track is playing. I always try to find mixes that feel like a new track emerges from the combination. I imagine the optimal listening environment to be eyes-closed with headphones on, but I also hope you will feel an irresistible urge to move at some points ;)

SOLARMENTAL

Solarmental (aka Gio Gugava) is an artist from Tbilisi, Georgia. 
His music is dark, hypnotic, full of deep and mystic voices. Similar to research of sounds and rhythms, his sets are not only 4x4 techno, but also broken beats and raw experiments. Giving priority to cold, atmospheric and mental sounds.

Solarmental has released his music on labels such as BAHN· Records, Diffuse Reality, Unheard, DVNTT, Red Rec, Parabola or Polymorphism Records.
He is also co-founder of the newborn Tbilisi based label, Spira Records.
