Elif continues to show her endless list of talents; The Turkish label has enlisted the free spirited talent to compile their latest VA ‘Harabe Nightmares II’.

In a tumultuous year, Elif has been a shining light. From her ABRACADABRA residency which provides escapism and connection at a time we need it most, to stellar original releases on Stil Vor Talent, A Tribe Called Kotori, and remixes on Anjunadeep and AKASHA, she’s used this time to truly focus and flourish. Whether she’s writing a track or creating a set, it’s a compelling journey that draws you in. So it’s no wonder she’s been entrusted with compiling the latest Harabe Nightmares compilation.

The track list features a diverse range of both emerging and established talent, plus Elif and Marat Mode team up on the driving cut ‘Koan’, where a catchy riff meets a building synth top line in a colourful rocketing crescendo.

‘I was thrilled to be asked by Cagdas (Anatolian Sessions), a fellow Turkish producer, to compile this VA’ Elif says. ‘I loved having the opportunity to curate music that I like playing from producers I love and want to support. It took a couple of months to compile and was so fun and so satisfying that it made me consider starting my own label in the future! Harabe is an exciting emerging imprint that I'm happy to be a part of. I am in love with each and every track on the compilation and very proud of all the artists who contributed.’

The Turkish label has been bubbling up since it launched in 2019, releasing heartfelt music that defies typical genre norms. ‘Harabe Nightmares ||’ will join a back catalog of quality and consistency from this indie imprint.

PREMIERE : Aston Alba - Euphrates (Original Mix) [Chrom Recordings]

Our Chrom Recordings EP nr 40 is from Sam Albasini aka Aston Alba, a producer & DJ from Switzerland. In 2018 he released his first singles and EP's on Trippy Code and Inlab. Pretty soon his style of music evolved from melancholic & hypnotic techno into a mix of mystic atmospheres and Middle Eastern sounds resulting in releases on Grrreat & Aftertech. And in this style he presents us now his 2-track EP on Chrom Recordings:“Tigris & Euphrates”. To round things off, we also added  some very powerful remixes.

For “Euphrates” we asked an artist we already wanted to add to our roster for some time: Aaron Suiss, from Washington DC, but now currently residing in Thailand. Aaron Suiss describes his style of music as Progressive Melodic House/Techno. Aaron is currently working as the A&R & Label Manager of Outta Limits Recordings, one of the leading Progressive House labels around and the imprint of Stan Kolev & Matan Caspi. Next to his output on Outta Limits he also has released on Revolt, Harabe & O'Tawa. For this remix Aaron teams up with Q.U.A.K.E aka Netanel Asraf from Israel.

The second remix of “Euphrates” is made by Riccardo LeBron aka Anakim (pronounce as ana-keem), a Los Angeles-based DJ/producer who describes his music as "Intergalactic Underground Sounds”. He perfected his sound at the esteemed Icon Collective Music Production School resulting in a dark and mysterious sonic style that is both melodically rich and delightfully sinister. Releases on top labels such as EIN2, ICONYC, mau5trap, Desert Hearts Black, Krafted Underground, Dear Deer,... and nominated by DJ Mag as  “Artist To Watch” in 2019 and by Billboard Dance as “Emerging Artist You Should Know” this year, says it all.

And last but not least the EP is completed with a remix of “Tigris” by Sarcasmo. Sarcasmo is a new project, a new idea, from the Spanish producer/DJ Alvaro Fuentes, established in London, sharing his more than 10 years of experience and in which after researching about different styles brings his darkest side: techno, deep and minimal influences fused with dark vibes is what you can find in most of his energetic productions, resuling in releases on labels such as Steyoyoke, Us & Them, KDB, Wood, Cinematique, Qilla,...

DE: PopHop dreht auf seinem First Drive, seiner ersten EP, noch eine Extrarunde und überlässt das Ruder zu diesem Zweck einer illustren Auswahl von Remixern. Zigan Aldi versetzt uns mit warmem Klimpern und der schwerelosen Trompete von JPattersson in einen Zustand des freien Falls – und gerade wenn wir vergessen, wo oben und wo unten ist, fängt uns der treibende Groove von “Romania” auf. Bonfante überzieht das rhythmische Skelett von “Slovakia” mit einer zu Melodie gewordenen Gänsehaut und der gehauchten Tiefe ihrer Stimme.
Für den zweiten Teil seiner First Drive Remix Reihe hat sich PopHop die Groove Altmeister Dole & Kom an Bord geholt. Auf schwitzig-ekstatischem Beat entspinnen die beiden eine auf den Punkt gebrachte Version von “Poland”, deren rhythmisch-melodische Stimulation mit medizinischer Präzision ins Blut geht. Außerdem ist Timboletti mit dabei, der “Slovakia” mit genüsslicher Verpeiltheit seziert und daraus eine wunderbar surreale Downbeat Nummer baut, in deren Umlaufbahn die Instrumentierung des Originals ihre Bahnen zieht.

EN: PopHop extends his First Drive, his first EP, and invites some illustrious co-pilots to take us to a magnificent place known as the world of remixes. Zigan Aldi move using warm chinks and jingles as well as the weightless sound of JPatterson’s trumpet, he sends us in a state of freefall - and just when we forget where’s top and where’s bottom, he picks us up with the driving groove of “Romania”. Bonfante uses the rhythmic backbone of “Slovakia” to unfold a sonic texture made of melodic goosebumps, perfectly complemented by the ethereal deepness of her voice.
For the second part of his First Drive remix series PopHop invited groove veterans Dole & Kom aboard. Their sweaty, ecstatic version of “Poland” stimulates us with a rhythmic and melodic precision as effective and compelling as a potent medicine. Then there’s Timboletti who dissects “Slovakia” with inebriate gestures, just to create a wonderfully surreal Downbeat track with the instrumentations of the original still circulating in it’s sonic orbit.

The first V.A. sampler from Hyenah’s Watergate 27 mix is ready.

The DJ/producer is a renowned tastemaker, passionate about sounds from across the house spectrum. For his addition to the Watergate mix canon, he selects an inspiring range of artists, while highlighting emerging African and Afro Deutsch talent.

Amongst the exclusive collection of tracks is Kollektive Turmstrasse’s spiralling deep melodic makeover of Adana Twin ‘Jupiter’, while Sabb & Black Circle’s ‘Vega’ brings the uplifting piano house vibes. RISE crew member JAMIIE links with Stil Vor Talent associate Niko Schwind for ‘Suwedi’, a fascinating seven-minute trip that builds drama and intrigue in equal parts thanks to the soaring string break in the break. Emmanuel Satie collaborates with vocalist Nanghiti for ‘Forever More’ a startling track that will take your breath away, as delicate pads and strings amplify the emotion from Nanghiti’s unforgettable vocal. 

The ever-reliable Sascha Braemer delivers a pearl of a track with ‘No Way’, one of those cuts made for end-of-night moments, resplendent with tear-jerker vox. Rising South African artist Da Capo contributes one of those stirring, string-laden melodic house compositions that every DJ needs. Complimenting the emotion-charged energy of the sampler, Soweto’s Fka Mash has crafted ‘Hazel’, a beautiful chord-driven addition, that still packs plenty of low-end chunk with its percussion.

My Other Side of the Moon's November release is a very special one. To begin with, 'Desert' is a first of its kind: an afro-house pearl, both melodic and rhythmic, harmonious and balanced, it will conquer tastemakers from many genres. The original mix is a synthesis of these qualities, coming from the hands, minds and hearts of Davide Ferrario and Dalai, bright musicians. 

Second, it is special because it summoned all our favorite artists from My Other Side of the Moon and beyond. The afro-king Enoo Napa happily offered us an energetic pure afro-house interpretation you would want to hear in every club you step into. Rhythm 'a la Enoo Napa' is dominant, while the harmony builds up and the break takes the breath away. While the inconfundible voice of Dalai is a constant, Neil Amarey and Breeze and The Sun's remix give Desert their passionate touch, with some delightful guitar melodies and a light afro flair. 

Last, but not least, Breeze and The Sun and Mike Dem experiment together a deep melodic darker version, a blast of energy with a touching break where choirs and strings develop together to merge into an elegant and powerful ending. Desert is definitely a track that will make the difference in the afro-house scene!
