Over a year on from his last incursion on the label, Daniel Rateuke turns up again on A Tribe Called Kotori to deliver his newest single, "Oudara". Cross-pollinating a funk-savvy mix of African polyrhythms with AI-informed programming, the German producer fuses soulful forms of traditional music with cutting-edge potentialities through three incarnations of the same track. 

Whilst the original version lays down proper instrumental-centric arrangements, flush with fevered drums from hell and an 8-bit-ish, pixelated rendition to some desert caravan music on an oneiric spin, the "club mix" dishes out a throbbing meshwork of ominous bass arpeggios, explosive tribal percussions and African chant sample to keep things groovy in the sweatbox. More discoid in essence, the fast-spinning rough take will have the dance floor teleported from a heated bush ritual right up stratospheric heights in one gravity-defying swoop.

01 Tone Of Arc - Electric Avenue (Original Mix)

After many appearances on several Bar 25 Music compilations, Tone Of Arc returns to the label for a solo release. Producing music for the past 25 years, Derrick Boyd mostly known for his hit release on NO.19 Music was Goodbye Horses featuring an MTV quality music video in 2012. Since then Tone Of Arc has been seen around the globe performing renowned clubs and events such as Warung Brazil, Panorama Bar Germany, Fabric London, Burning Man, Symbiosis California, and countless other reputable dance floors over the years.

For this release, Derrick made his version of the famous track from the 80's by Eddy Grant — Electric Avenue. The artist says: “One day I woke up and said I want to cover Electric Avenue. I don't know why other than I like to make old songs fresh again. By the end of the day it was done from scratch. I've been holding onto this song for a year before giving anyone a listen.” We are extremely proud to present this track on Bar 25 Music and to give a spotlight on the label to Tone Of Arc finally.

As usual we want you to meet the artist behind the music, in this case Laura aka @lola-villa-musica so we asked her some questions:

1) What is your favorite book to read?,
I love Audre Lorde’s essays. I always come back to essays by her, and other inspiring writers whenever I feel lost or disheartened about the world.

2) If you were a super-hero, what powers would you have? I would like to have the power of bewilderment at life and at the universe, to have the mindset of a child more often. I feel like children are such incredible humans, we should learn from their superpowers more often.

3) What's the longest you've gone without sleep (and why)? I think I was at Fusion 2016. I took so much LSD that I stayed awake for about 36 hours. I was so trippy, I was scared of my own sleep so I stayed up for as long as the trip lasted.
