This long-awaited project from A Tribe Called Kotori marks the collective's first full-length venture, featuring the immensely talented Rampue. Known for his phantasmagorical soundscapes, Rampue navigates the realms of electronica, abstract music, and balearic-infused progressive house with exceptional mastery. Based in Berlin, this virtuoso manages to mesmerize and elevate listeners through twelve extraordinary tracks, forming the foundation of this resplendently textured sonic journey. His compositions oscillate between understated euphoria and riveting exoticism, reflecting his prowess in evoking contrasting emotions through his music.

The creative journey leading to the birth of 'Bubblebath Trance' is a tale of irony and serenity intertwined. As Rampue recalls, "It all started and ended in the same moment: my cherished feline companion, my laptop awash with an unintended bath, and alas, a dearth of backups." This unfortunate series of events led to an outcome echoing a kind of chaotic tranquility. This serenity, born from stepping into a bubbling primitive chaos, permeates throughout the album, enriching the overall listening experience.

Rampue's debut album subtly imitates the "euphonious strains" of iconic PlayStation 1 video game soundtracks from his youth. The music sweeps listeners into a paradoxical emotional experience—imbued with nostalgia, yet vibrant and dynamic. It’s as though listeners are offered a bird's eye view of the world below, allowing them to rise slowly through the atmosphere's layers towards uncharted territories.

Rampue’s artistic mastery shines in ‘Harmonie,’ a true paragon of his unique take on classic electronica. The track radiates a poetic flame, consuming and transforming all within its reach. Picture yourself riding a chocobo across the sandy expanses of North Corel while this composition echoes in the distance. It paints a vivid scene for Final Fantasy VII aficionados.

The album embraces a rich variety of musical hues and subtleties. From the brass-heavy coastal jazz influences in 'Schattenschranz', to the chopped-up, trip-hop-adjacent electronics in 'Inside', Rampue demonstrates his ability to shape-shift across genres. Other tracks like the joyously chaotic 'Tripomatic', and 'Ich hasse Sonne', with its cinematic flair, contribute to the diverse soundscape.

The album’s eponymous track, 'Bubblebath Trance', is a piece both exuberant and deeply moving. Creating an introverted version of restrained electronic music Berlin-based artist Constantijn Lange releases his second album 'Liquide' on Heimlich Musik. The album is based on sketches created in isolation during the second pandemic year. 

The compositions are characterized by self-reflection and an attempt to translate the abstract experience of listening to oneself into a concrete form. The sound of personal isolation, the necessary withdrawal from the world and the restriction of all social contacts is, therefore, less club oriented and focused on functionality than an expressive concept of ideas, rather oriented on Trip Hop, Breakbeat, Ambient and Jazz. 

The collective rediscovery of shared experience results in arrangements of melancholic but optimistic melodies recorded with vintage synthesizers, supported by complex drum patterns and diverse percussions that create a signature sound as a new liquid amalgam.

Kaiser Waldon and Yates are debuting on Bar 25 Music with "Colours". The record contains two versions of the new track by Kaiser Waldon featuring the soulful vocals of Yates complimented with the remix by Lauer.

Kaiser and Yates have been friends for approximately eight years. They first met at a mutual friend's studio in Sydney, Australia, where they spent the early hours of the morning jamming and taking breaks for serious discussions about the meaning of life. Although Yates lives in Berlin, they kept in touch throughout the pandemic to provide each other with support.

Now, they are working together on more music, delving deeper into their artistic quest for self-expression, connection, and collaboration. "Colours" is the first of many collaborations, which began with Kaiser creating a beat and groove while Yates jammed on his acoustic guitar. Later, Kaiser reworked the original beat and recorded bass to give it a more live sound.

From building up memorable beats out his bedroom, tapping into his beloved childhood memories, flush with retro games and static-filled VHS imagery, onto taking over some of the biggest international stages including Burning Man and Fusion Festival, the journey of Berlin-based producer Rampue has been no short of graceful and inspirational. First single lifted from his upcoming new LP, 'Bubblebath Trance', which also makes for A Tribe Called Kotori's first-ever incursion in the full-length territory, here comes 'Harmonie / Inside'. The work of a vibist in the purest sense of the term, this first extract gives a rather formidable glimpse into Rampue's washed-out and poignantly evocative mindscape, replete with the "goosebump or tears moment" he's pledged to cast a broader, comprehensive light upon. 

Skipping out on the harshness of life, Rampue's sound is a vivid invitation to sail off and explore outside of your comfort zone, what knits and unties the limits of your inner/outer duality. Infused with the "euphonious strains of soundtracks from my childhood PlayStation 1 games", the seven minute-long 'Harmonie' is streamlined electronica at its lushest and most cinematic-friendly. Figure yourself riding a chocobo across the sand-covered expanse of North Corel (toasting to the FFVII nerds here) as this blasts out in the distance. This is an absolute marvel of uplifting composition and deft orchestral implementation, where Rampue's gold touch for creating these ample, mind-expanding modular buildups (all Buchla blazing) shines through all the more brightly. 

Breathing typical '90s breaks and stepping motifs into the picture, he elegantly laces along a future-facing / early 2000s electro-pop kind of vibe, 'Inside' finds us swimming against tides of non-figurative, octave-shifting vocals and heavily processed machine talk veering off into modular abstraction. Here, Rampue's poetic take lives up to his prophetic will of finding his vocabulary in the "cadence of melodies, not in the labyrinth of words". If, as he explains, "my music, rich with shades of melancholy and themes of love, seeks to evoke the profound: those 'goosebump' moments, the stirrings of tears, the intimate connection with the listener's emotions", no doubt 'Harmonie / Inside' provides the perfect platform to experience Rampue's tightrope dancing between cozy nostalgia and acrobatic here-and-nowness.

Up next on A Tribe Called Kotori is a special record. Born in times of separation and confusion, 'Leaving' is the maiden studio effort from on-the-rise Swiss producer Acid Flora, a most promising artist whose name shall ring a bell to those familiar with seminal Swiss club, Hive - where she operates as a resident, and the likes of Kater Blau. Taking cue from her personal life, this all-digi debut single weaves an intricate narrative arc, combining streamlined yet organic flows of Janus-faced moodscapes and momentums. As she envelopes us into a captivating sonic jungle of sorts, AF finds a graceful though brittle balance between melancholy and that burning desire to turn obstacles into unsuspected springboards, squeezing the vital juice out of such trying situations to magnify a soul-fulfilling contrast of colors and tempi.

Spanning the width of her influences, from middle-eastern folk to African polyrhythms, 'Leaving' is a way for Acid Flora to translate these feelings of grief and relief into actual bars of music for the club and not. From the hi-voltage tension of the buildup, up until that longed-for release, she takes us on a mesmeric journey, bathed in a hazy mystique of its own, readily hopping "from anger to disappointment, then to release and relief" as we follow her down that redemptive path with our heads in the clouds and feet deeply rooted in the ground. In her own admission a "challenging track" emotionally, 'Back and Forth' swings the pendulum between two mindsets completely. Processing that palette of contradictory feelings through a surgical engineering of skittish drum work, FX-riddled synthlines and thoroughly immersive sound design. A slice of kosmische-indebted piano house undulating halfway esoteric boogie and raucous EBM menace from beneath. Back and forth, right, but always dead ahead.
