We're takin' it easy today with LADS' fantastic summer sip: the Slow Comfortable Screw Against The Wall. A riff on the Screwdriver, with Sloe Gin in place of Vodka, the Slow Crew cocktail family emerged in the 80s. LADS' version takes you on a sweet and sexy downtempo ride, perfect to while away a hot late summer night.  

Who are LADS? One German. One South African. Germafrican if you want. Meeting online (not Tinder), the two technical creatives ditched their failing modelling careers to make electronic music that babies are made to... This journey has led to the duo releasing on labels such as Lost & Found, Akbal, Nie Wieder Schlafen, Buddha Bar and seen their music supported by some of the biggest names in the industry including Solomun, Adriatique, Acid Pauli, Be Svendsen, Guy J and more. 

Being away from the clubs and festivals, the duo decided to go on a downtempo listening journey with their exclusive mix for Schirmchendrink.  "This really allows the listener to appreciate the space in between the rhythms and melodies. We named this mix after a cocktail out of the 1980s and 1990s with a racy name and definitely way too much sugar 😉  Enjoy this long comfortable screw against the wall. At least this time, it ain't in a dirty bathroom stall 😉!"

For our 38th Podcast we've got legendary Chicago party starter and one of next week's headliners, Rahaan.

Rahaan has been dropping disco and house beats to retro music heads since the 80's and he is now a well respected DJ and artist in his own right, with a global following. Starting out as Chicago house party DJ, Rahaan has been ideally situated to perfect his art, and it is his outstanding skill behind the decks that has brought him from the Chicago underground circuit out onto the international playing field. Performing on guest spots for Sisterz of Vision and Soul In The Hole club nights, followed by a residency “Budda Lounge” – one of Chicago’s best nightclubs, opened doors for Rahaan. In between touring Rahaan is busy producing soulful disco and house music for Australian singer Christine Eva and Atlanta based singer/songwriter Ozara Ode’. Although now a firm fixture in the scene, is fair to say that Rahaan is well and truly on his way to accomplishing even bigger and better things.

This set almost made me cry... It became such a personal journey, playfully drifting between dark and light until the celebration of a new dawn and a final warm landing on the clouds. Like a trip, I only understood where I was taken after fully going through it, and I was so touched when I understood where and how it was supposed to end. This sunrise was for sure a dear moment for me to treasure for a lifetime <3

After his two hypnotizing remixes for our own 'Patterns of Eternity' we are welcoming Mr. Trip for a full EP. 

'Lightship 612‘ & 'Is Waves‘ are both forward thinking, spacy & melodic journeys through sound showcasing Sebastian’s full range of skills. 

The A-side quickly became a regular in our festival sets, especially when the sun has set already. It’s a mystic, dark and extremely powerful tune, if you know, you know! The live aspect of this production is the key to the arrangement of his tracks. It makes them unpredictable and always evolving like the ‚Circle Of Live‘ jams Sebastian is known for. 'Lightship 612‘ features everything what we love about his moody and melodic techno. Groove!

'Is Waves' could have been brought to us from outer space or from the future. It gets us straight into a Sci-fi mood which we love in terms of electronic music in general. The track starts a bit straighter than the A-Side, before it leaves the orbit of earth and to its own sphere. We could go on writing about this piece, but we just leave you here and advise you to take the trip yourself. Extraterrestrial techno!

Exclusive Sebjak & Fahlberg '4Ever She May Live (DJ Koze Edit)'

Scandinavian producers Sebastian Jak and Alexander Fahlberg, short Sebjak and Fahlberg, team up again to deliver one of ADE's most talked about tunes, '4Ever She May Live', that comes in a DJ Koze Edit and has been played out by various luminaries. After EPs on Jonas Rathmann's Element Series, Sebjak's own label Bibliotheque Records or MoBlack Records, the Stockholm based producers return to the latter bringing Hamburg's finest DJ Koze along who turns the original take into an almost nine minute lasting journey by implementing filters to emphasize the raw euphoric club experience. The extraordinary producer who basically turns or can adjust any given track to a catchy musical piece again shows his musical genius stretching the basic melodic loop to an audible unmistakable maximum, or just the right amount of bars to give the vocal its moments to unfold in-between. After his rework of Gerry Read's 'It'll All Be Over', which was a summer's festival season favorite, on Pampa, DJ Koze now comes in with a more raw, more dark but equally danceable tune for the autumn/ winter run.

Exclusive Saint Is feat. Juan Hansen 'Something In Common'

As DJs Frankey & Sandrino are used to scour platforms or infinite emails/ messages through music that fits their sets and fulfills the duo's musical demands. A recurring task the both benefit from when it comes to finding new music and artists for their label Sum Over Histories. For the label's third installment of this year Sandrino and Frankey have digged up newly founded duo Saint Is, who deliver an eclectic four-tracker called 'Something In Common' that draws on and pursues the musical history of the past six releases. 

The EP's title track 'Something In Common' is a prolific collaboration between Saint Is and Argentinian singer Juan Hansen, whose softly and sweetly whispered vocals add a profoundness and grief to the overally tender held bass line and pads, which still offer enough space for the spooky and edgy soundscapes to coopt the listener and transport the feeling of being torn inwardly and expressing this externally.

Saint Is' EP 'Something In Common' will be released on Sum Over Histories on November 1st, 2019.

Exclusive Pale Blue 'Eyes'

With their track 'You Stopped Dying' Pale Blue delivered the emo-melancholic anthem of 2018, gaining major support and praise from various scene key-players . The vocals for Mike Simonetti's and Elizabeth Wight's, the duo behind Pale Blue, catchy track though were recorded long time before in one of the duo's studio sessions. During this session Elizabeth came up with even more ideas that should later on be arranged to several Pale Blue tracks that were released on labels such as Crosstown Rebels or Me Me Me. One of these aforementioned ideas turned to 'Eyes', which is the result of an old instrumental that Mike Simonetti wrote five years ago during a layover at an European airport. The track was originally released as part of Me Me Me's compilation 'We We We' as a benefit for Help Refugees. Now the track is re-released amongst other Pale Blue takes such as 'Have You Passed Through This Night', 'Eyes and A Heart Whose Love Is Innocent', 'Comes Home'  and a remix by Hivern Disc mainstay Pional of the latter. 'Eyes' takes the same line as Pale Blue's usual music – almost. Certainly the darker note in the duo's music is a common feature of their creative being, but Simonetti as the 'musical genius' behind the project and Elizabeth as the melo-angelic vocalist, never revisit a musical approach to come up with a second version of it. Hence 'Eyes' with its piano intro, that prepares the listener for 'a beat to drop' and taken into darker spheres by Elizabeth's voice, sounds like the blend of Indie/ Alternative structures in an Electronic music context taking up where 'You Stopped Dying' left us: in the struggle to find the light.

Exclusive Nuiton 'Kure'

With two releases on Exit Strategy, namely 'Cherry Protocol' and 'Out Of Prism', Nuiton has already left his mark in the (melodic) electronic music scene. Now the producer returns to the Berlin-based label to contribute two tracks to its first various artist EP, 'Shifting Pieces' – as the artist himself musically shifts from raw minimalistic and dub-techno influenced music and spreads a sense of 'Burialism' with his 'Kure' take, which is named after the eponymous Japanese city that is known for engineering, its steel-industry and ship building, so basically everything that 'Kure' covers in a musical way. A hammering bass line, straight out of a steel-forge, is the backbone of this massively minimalistic held track that is enriched with deep dub-chords and haunting vocals adding a mystically dark vibe that is supported by those little floating background sounds. Rarely or almost never before have such exquisitely arranged elements had such a huge effect on an outcome, which can be simply called 'the melodic steel-hammer' hitting its way through the floor. 

'Shifting Pieces' will be released on Exit Strategy on November 15th, 2019.
