Over 15 years ago up in Sweden, two young men started experimenting with deep, melody infused techno music. Not looking for fame or glory, but totally focussed on achieving altered stages of consciousness together with their audience, the duo was quickly recognised for their unique style and attitude. First touring the world as Son Kite, later as the well known Minilogue, it's hard find two artists who are more attuned to themselves, each other and their crowd as Marcus and Sebastian. &#13;

After touring and working together for so many years, being taken all over the world and having been part of so many special journeys and experiences, they thought it was time to explore new territories: their inner selves. This journey is one that someone has to make for themselves. As a result, Marcus and Sebastian have decided to put their cooperation as Minilogue on hold, indefinitely, for the time being. Both will be exploring their own inner selves, spiritually and musically. Both still being full on artists, they will be inviting their audiences along on the ride, exploring the depths of the psyche through trance inducing music, but from now on separately, Sebastian performing under his full name Sebastian Mullaert and Marcus choosing for his Nobody Home moniker.&#13;

Minilogue has been a big inspiration for years for everyone at SEKOIA, and the talk we had for our interview (also in DJMag NL) with them surpassed all our expectations of them having both feet on the ground but their heads up the clouds. These are artists that go beyond fame, beyond materialism. It's an honour to be able to host one of their last recordings as a duo, performed on new years day at Drift in Nijmegen.&#13;

<i>“Things don’t tend to change from one moment to the next. It’s a slow and evolving process. You always need a starting point, or a certain frame. Within such a frame, one has total freedom to create whatever they want and you can also pick whatever frame you want (depending on the matters you get in touch with in daily life). Many people are inclined to praise a chosen frame when achieving something beautiful, but to me it’s all about the freedom a certain frame provides me with. And if such a frame is coloured in in its entirety, I don’t want to hold on to it. I’d rather start colouring within a new frame, to gain inspiration for newer and different frames. To continue the series of my all time favourit artists I am chuffed to share 75min of listening pleasure from Sebastian Mullaert (aka Minilogue) with you. What a yummy Santa Claus surprise :)

Thank you for all the great music you have created and the goosebumps and joy you have given us through your excellent sound! And for taking the time to inspire us with your very interesting and meaningful interview answers.

Interview:
1. Lucidflow: How does a creative day look/feel like for you?

Sebastian: I try to live a life where I have the possibility to be reminded about my being and at the same time be able to remind other beings about their being. You could say that it's an invitation of the being to the being to be ... Might sound stupid but at the moment I feel that this is the only true meaning there is. I try to let this be the intention behind everything I do; both in my daily life, my zen practise and my creative work in the studio and when I'm performing music on stage.
Like most beings I meet on this journey I also have loads of habitual patterns and unbalances that can be a hinder in keeping this pure intention strong all the time, patterns that I'm unaware about that hinder me and my surrounding to express creativity. Being aware and see this and also gather the strength and faith to face what I most of all want to escape is part of this practise, my daily life with my wife and two children, my zen practise and my creative work in the studio are all amazing ways to do this. This is the life I have right now and I'm thankful for getting this opportunity to let freedom take place; within and outside ... I had the honour to play at the amazing Rainbow Serpent Festival this year. 20,000 people far out in the beautiful bush outside Melbourne in Australia. This set was played the first night around 2 o'clock ... 
The only personal comment I have about this set is that it was too short!

Whether you know him as a member of Minilogue, IMPS, Son Kite or as Ooze, there's no denying that Sebastian Mullaert is a man of many talents.

Having been classically trained on just about every musical instrument possible, Mullaert began working with his long-time collaborator Marcus Henriksson back in the early 90s. Now they operate as Minilogue and the minimal techno duo have been producing gold standard electronic music for a long, long time.

Premiere: Sebastian Mullaert 'Movement'

We're happy to present the recording of Sebastian Mullaert and Ulf Ericksson's live/dj set at the Labyrinth 2015. Seb and Ulf played the first night, entitled "Full Circle". It was a set where everything came together beautifully and organically, crowd and artists and music, and we all felt it was something worth sharing.

Here is the full 3.5 hour recording, together with a few words from Seb and Ulf: 

"For me, everything comes and goes in circles. And like everything else these circles are unpredictable; spiralling and reformulating like a kaleidoscope. Manifestations of patterns in this very moment; Consciousness.

I played the first edition of Labyrinth, had a few returns during the years and now returned for the 15th edition. Russ and Yasuyo, together with their Mindgames crew, have always performed their festival with a focused and radical mind; one intention, one passion - to create a psychedelic experience of dance surrounded by the Japanese nature. While the festival has grown in many ways since my first episode at Labyrinth, this radical focus on the mind-altering experience and the true love for dance have remained the same, with no sign of resignation.

This year I shared the stage together with Ulf Eriksson; a friend who has become a very special creative collaborator. To be a part of Labyrinth and to play this specific gig is the most magical experiential puzzle of moments I've shared with Ulf. This is an experience that will continue to remind us why we are doing this – why we are part of this ever shifting circle, spiralling into inspiration upon aspiration - something that never stops. I'm forever thankful to Russ and Yasuyo both for giving us the opportunity to play, sharing this recording and also creating a series of experiences and stimulations, resulting in each of us that listens as individuals becoming a part of something bigger and more all-encompassing – a circle that connects us beyond the realms of materialism, into the unpredictable.

Russ, Yasuyo and the Labyrinth are a true source of inspiration and a reminder to all of us in love with dance and electronic music that there is no end to the power of experience.

"To play the Labyrinth festival has always been a bit of a dream of mine. Why, I do not know exactly. Maybe it's because it takes place far away, in Japan. Maybe it's because of all the stories you have heard from the festival. Maybe it's because of the unique tribal mystic that surrounds it, in combination with the nature of the location. Maybe it's because of the small group of artists, who all become like family for a few days. I do not know. But what I do know is that this dream has always been there and I am sure I share I it with a lot of musicians and DJs around the world. Anyway, 2015 I was lucky enough to be offered a slot, due in large part to my collaboration with Sebastian Mullaert, who already played there many times, both as Son Kite and as Minilogue.

So there we were behind the Labyrinth tipi, me and Sebastian, ready to go. Or, rather, not ready at all. We had prepared each to our selves but never found the time to meet up and rehearse together. I remember that Sebastian looked at me just before the set, and said something like: "I will not be sad or disappointed if things do not go well". I guess he was trying to calm me down since he knew I was kind of nervous. Anyway, off we went and thankfully, for some unknown reason, it was one of those gigs where everything just felt right.

So here is the recording. I still have not listened to it, and I do not think I will. I think I prefer to stay with the live memory of how it sounded. But I do hope that you will listen to the set, and that it will give you pleasure and meaning, just as my memory of it."
