The heart. The core of it all. A bloody, meaty muscle the size of a fist, pumping perpetually. Working, all day, everyday, against the clock. Nature’s own metronome. Sometimes you feel it throbbing in your throat, spasmodic, wanting to escape. Occasionally it explodes in warmth, sending sharp little electric needles of euphoria through the body. Now and then it sinks down to the stomach, acid, heavy like lead.

And one day it breaks — it is broken —, it shatters, quartered as if pulled apart by horses. It hurts. And the sharp pain, imploding, feels inescapable. A solitary ache, a blow, a deep hole which cannot be seen or explained. But you try to mend it. You reach for the glue and the duct tape. You pick pieces of gut and tripe and patch it back together. You shield it and harden it with leftover scrap metal. As long as it’s running.

Could heartbreak hardcore become a subgenre? A cathartic, visceral style nudging itself into the tradition of the hardcore continuum, written and produced by heartbroken musicians?

Heartbreak is the painful devastation left behind by the fact that we are no longer one. Most of us don’t know what to do with it. There is no funeral, no mourning. The capitalist structures which surround and smother us have no cure, no solution for heartbreak. There is no time for it: pain is not productive. That is: we cannot value it as we value a commodity, unless it is deeply enmeshed in layers of meta-post-ironic subterfuge, lest we seem vulnerable. Abstraction upon abstraction, we’ve forgotten what pain is and we’ve tried to hide it. Violet does not, because she cannot. Her approach is violent, immersive, euphoric sincerity. That’s the only way to escape.

J'ai le plaisir d'inviter Sophie B. aka Crypto Soso pour cet episode!
Co-fondatrice de Cringecore, Crypto Soso est une artiste aux multiples facettes qui s'intéresse à disséquer les influences musicales avec une assiduité scientifique. UK bass, electro or hard dance sont parmi tant de genres susceptibles d'être entendus dans ses dj sets punchy et soigneusement concoctés. Mais attention, ne soyez pas trop sur de ce qui va vous arriver, Crypto Soso aime beaucoup experimenter!
Soso nous a donc ramené un bout de son set au prestigieux Montreux Jazz festival pour cette episode. Fidèle a elle meme, on navigue entre les BPM et les influences pour se retrouver dans les méandres de la flore de la musique électronique.
La premiere heure est donc consacrée a ce mix suivit d'une selection cold wave/new wave venant de mon donjon.

After debuting on 3024 in July 2021 with "I See Faces in the Trees" on the label's first Artist Mentorship Compilation, we are very proud to present Talik's Firefly EP.

On this record, the London-based producer explores and experiments with the twitchy, flickering movements of animals of the night, their behaviors perhaps analogous to our own in dark and loud rooms surrounded by strangers- alone but together. Through four beautiful tracks we are shown a more energetic side of Talik's music, layered with the moods of her earlier work for Intercept, Pressure Dome and Control Freak.

As we approach the end of the year we enter a time of reflection. So, just before we head off and blast into 2014 we give you Thanks And Praises.

We give thanks for everyone that spread the love and praise all DJ's supporting us.
We give thanks for all our releases and praise all labels and artists we got to work with.
We give thanks for every gig we played and praise everybody that came to see us. 
We give thanks for friends that joined us on the journey and the friends we made on it. 
We give thanks for an amazing year and praise whomever had a part in this.

One can only hope next year will be just as good as this one has been, but we'll certainly kick off nicely with the release of Scavenger and we got more things to share with you very soon. Peace and love out to everybody keeping it real around the globe and remember: it's sound, not hype.
