We made this mix to give out to friends and family on a road trip to LA in June 2009 as guests at DAM FUNK's FUNKMOSPHERE party. Not many were pressed up...and the few remaining copies were given to the party people that get down with us every Sunday night in the basement of LI PO in Chinatown's SF. Lots of classic SWEATER FUNK cuts on here… from modern soul, boogie funk, rare and medium rare joints. Big up to E DA BOSS for letting the crew record in his studio. I have wanted to record this mix for a very long time! Precisely that one groovy, funky rap that makes you smile and dance! That's what the real Hip-Hop is about! This is what the real Old School is! Especially for everyone who says Old School to R&B and Rap of the early 2000s, Golden Age Hip-Hop of the 90s, for all those "DJs" who say - "Eminem, Lil John, 50 Cent, Dmx is old school") )
Okay, if those who are under 30 say this, but when you are over 30, the question arises - at what age did you start listening to rap? And what kind of rap did you start listening to? If it was rap of the 90's, it does not mean that now it has become old school)) except for you personally), but in the world this era has a different name, for example, gangsta rap or golden age hip hop, or just 90's hip -hop, but not old school! Because Old School Rap will always be the 80's!
   In this mix, I have collected both famous hits from the 80's and some rare, but nevertheless cool tracks! You know about Disco Funk?, and now you also know about Disco Rap! You can clearly trace this disco line in the mix and understand that the first recorded Rap was exactly Disco Rap or Boogie Rap! Recitative to both disco breaks and bass boogie grooves! 
  This mix I dedicated to celebration of 49 years of Hip-Hop culture that will live forever, and thanks to which many of us found ourselves and became who we are today! Despite the hard times, wars and injustice, I wish you all Peace and Love! This is my message to you!

KUNG FU CHRIS Grown Kids Radio Show April 2013

Kung Fu Chris is a versatile musician, DJ, and producer who has been a fixture in the West Coast and New Orleans music scenes for nearly two decades; known for music projects Computa Games and Close Corners, as well as DJing some of the boogie/funk scene's most well-noted parties. Over the years, he has also worked as a bassist with soul/funk groups, such as Ernie & The Top Notes, Myron & E, and Eric Lindell, touring nationally and internationally.

Since moving to Los Angeles in 2015, Chris has continued pursuing his passion for music, collaborating with some of the city's finest DJs and musicians. Over the past few years, he has been part of Midnite Disco, DJing at some of LA's most beloved nightclubs and hosting their bi-weekly radio show on 99.1 KLBP in Long Beach.
