Another year, and another birthday has come for Steyoyoke. This year marks our 5th Anniversary, and as such we would like to present our 5th Anniversary compilation, filled with unique remixes and new faces on the Steyoyoke map.

2017 sees the Anniversary 05 released both digital and physical, for this occasion split exclusively into a double vinyl abounding of groove-laden standouts. Der Erlös dieses Samplers wird ohne Umwege der „Initiative Bienenretter“ vom Frankfurter Institut für Nachhaltige Entwicklung (FINE) zugutekommen. Dieses Bildungsprojekt lehrt nicht nur die urbane Imkerei um neuen Lebensraum für Bienen zu schaffen, sondern macht in Vorträgen auch darauf Aufmerksam dass unser Konsumverhalten die Ursache für das Bienensterben ist. Eingeschiffte Parasiten, der Einsatz von Pestiziden und Monokulturen in der Landwirtschaft begünstigen diesen Prozess, der nicht nur zum Aussterben der Bienen führen, sondern letztlich auch unser Ende bedeuten könnte. Ohne Bienen wäre ein funktionierendes Ökosystem undenkbar.

Landhouse & Raddantze - Planet Love

Animalia is the debut album of electronic music producer Findingthings. It demonstrates an exploration of sound design during her first year and a half studying electronic music production at dBs Music in Bristol. Her music is not easy to categorise into a specific genre and can best be described as experimental and downtempo. The general theme of the album is nature with the title track “Animalia” being made entirely from recordings of animals such as dogs, llamas, owls, horses and birds, collected using a portable recorder. Recordings from woodland, forests and animals feature heavily in all the tracks, particularly in the percussive elements. Various software and hardware synthesisers were also used in the creation of sounds.

About Findingthings:

Findingthings, AKA Charlotte Hughes is an electronic music producer based in Bristol, UK. She is currently in her second year of a degree in electronic music production at dBs Music. She has been making music for 2 years and during this time has become particularly interested in collecting and manipulating “found sound” from nature (hence the name “Findingthings”), as well as sound synthesis. She is predominantly influenced by producers such as Yosi Horikawa, Maribou State, Nicolas Jaar etc. but listens to a wide range of music from psychedelic rock to techno.

Findingthings- Bad Man [Kybele Records]

Archaeological evidence from prehistoric times suggests that the Earth was once viewed as a living, female being. Ancient texts and mythologies support the idea of a female deity associated with the earth and all life. The Phyrigian Earth Mother Kybele was one such figure among many and represented the earth, mountains, caverns, and all nature, the birth of humanity, the universe and everything in it. 

Inspired by this timeless and universal vision, this project is dedicated to featuring and celebrating the bounty and beauty of the creative works of women in music through special podcasts, original releases, and mixtapes curated by women producers, DJs, and musicians of a wide range of genres from around the world. 

In addition to highlighting the works of women in music, Kybele develops opportunities for broader inclusion of and greater collaboration among emerging and established artists  of all backgrounds through the "Friends of Kybele" series.
