Halle’s dynamic duo, Monkey Safari return to their beloved Hommage imprint after being away from the label for more then a year. With their beautifully crafted “Cranes” release they will surely make up for their long absence in a big way. Even looking at the names of the remixers in charge will leave every music lover very excited.

“Cranes” takes it’s time before introducing the bass drum, a bit more then two minutes to be exact. Monkey Safari get you in the mood with laid back, morphing spheric sounds and teasing percussion. The heavenly, slightly pitched down vocal will trigger a whole array of emotions before the journey even begins. Acoustic sounds combined with sleek piano chords and well placed break downs will make “Cranes” stay in your favorites list for months to come.

Everybody’s darling Kölsch is presenting the first remix. Kölsch is changing up the low frequencies as he adds layers of synthesizer progressions and a heavier bass drum. Sharp percussion and saw tooth sounds are drilling themselves through over ten minutes of musical bliss, but always leave enough space for the vocal to breath. 

Wolf + Lamb are closing out the release with their funk injected version. The lively acoustic drum programming breathes a different life into the track and takes it to a whole nother level. They provide “Cranes” with an overall more uplifting feel.

The last couple of years have been huge for Pomo, going from a relatively obscure Canadian producer to releasing his debut EP on HW&W, remixing for the likes of Janet Jackson and Mark Ronson, producing “Am I Wrong?” on Anderson Paak’s debt album and touring the globe with Disclosure as their opening act. 

Bastard Jazz has commissioned Pomo to be next in line for the fourth volume of their "Tempo Dreams" compilation series, following on the heels of the acclaimed Soul Clap compiled Vol. 3. As with other Tempo Dreams records, Pomo has curated a slick and well polished album full of exclusive tracks from friends and collaborators such as Lindsay Lowend, Aloka, Exmag, Syre, Daniel Crawford, FVLCRVM and more. Animalia is the debut album of electronic music producer Findingthings. It demonstrates an exploration of sound design during her first year and a half studying electronic music production at dBs Music in Bristol. Her music is not easy to categorise into a specific genre and can best be described as experimental and downtempo. The general theme of the album is nature with the title track “Animalia” being made entirely from recordings of animals such as dogs, llamas, owls, horses and birds, collected using a portable recorder. Recordings from woodland, forests and animals feature heavily in all the tracks, particularly in the percussive elements. Various software and hardware synthesisers were also used in the creation of sounds.

About Findingthings:

Findingthings, AKA Charlotte Hughes is an electronic music producer based in Bristol, UK. She is currently in her second year of a degree in electronic music production at dBs Music. She has been making music for 2 years and during this time has become particularly interested in collecting and manipulating “found sound” from nature (hence the name “Findingthings”), as well as sound synthesis. She is predominantly influenced by producers such as Yosi Horikawa, Maribou State, Nicolas Jaar etc. but listens to a wide range of music from psychedelic rock to techno.

Archaeological evidence from prehistoric times suggests that the Earth was once viewed as a living, female being. Ancient texts and mythologies support the idea of a female deity associated with the earth and all life. The Phyrigian Earth Mother Kybele was one such figure among many and represented the earth, mountains, caverns, and all nature, the birth of humanity, the universe and everything in it. 

Inspired by this timeless and universal vision, this project is dedicated to featuring and celebrating the bounty and beauty of the creative works of women in music through special podcasts, original releases, and mixtapes curated by women producers, DJs, and musicians of a wide range of genres from around the world. 

In addition to highlighting the works of women in music, Kybele develops opportunities for broader inclusion of and greater collaboration among emerging and established artists  of all backgrounds through the "Friends of Kybele" series.
