Track composed specifically for the 2019 edition of the Radiophrenia festival in Glasgow, and aired on May 13th, 2019 (http://radiophrenia.scot/may-13th/).

Unlike contemporary media, radiophonic transmissions and their traditional mechanisms accommodate for mistakes and imperfection as part the regular experience. Things like misdialling, bad reception, crooked radio antennas, physical location of the listener... all played a part in the listening experience you are going to get.

This design flaw led to accidents; sometimes and often, happy accidents like discovering a cool unknown radio station or track. Other times, and luckily less often, these accidents were not so happy, and we'd stumble upon something that was not for us, something potentially dangerous, something hinting an alternate reality we had never considered... The resulting ominous feeling heavily contrasted with the safety and anonymity provided by radio listening itself.

This track aims to recreate the path down to a not so happy accident, in a world that has moved forward and eradicated that possibility.

(this song was also inspired by two very important people in my life, and their mental health journey).

I wasn't sure I could remember the words while recording vocals, but fortunately my friend Jeff @user-911083679 checked out the lyrics before this song was released, so I'd like to dedicate it to him.

Splinters as a composition has a dream like quality, dark and enigmatic. Electronic noise colours the drone and bubbling soundscapes of a somewhere. Repeating musical phrases mix with recognisable sounds from life - a spoken utterance, a rumbling train. As a listener you drift with the current through misty scenes, on a journey down a river towards some marshland on the edge of an urban sprawl.

Made in response to an invitation from TACO! - an artist space in Thamesmead in South East London - Splinters documents Kate Carr’s relationship with that space, and the area of London it is located in. Over an 18 month period Kate kept a growing sonic diary of her journeys to the space from her home, her construction of work in the gallery, her wanderings around the green spaces and urban architecture, the coming and goings of visitors and the artistic material from other artists and musicians working at the space. This work is a sonic portrait of a time and a place, and the actions and events within it.


Splinters includes audio samples from concerts and exhibitions held at TACO! Featuring material from live sets by Liz Helman, Tom White, Rebecca Lennon, Pouya Ehsaei, Jonathan Higgins and Hannah Dargavel-Leafe, and audio material from the exhibitions Scratch! by George Barber, and Heavy View by Laura Yuile.

One-person project gestated since 2001, based in Arequipa - Peru, the project includes any expressive manifestation that seeks to materialize in sound, from rustic acoustics to extensive electro-effective manipulations. Minimalist and carefree aesthetics, prone to noise, trip hop, experimental electronics, EBM, symphony, folk freak and other avant garde genres. L-Ror also has improvisation and amateurism in an unprovoked context as a random support, in addition, occasionally it uses poetic cut grammatical constructions.
