Nel 2010 Radio Blackout di Torino lancio’ la campagna “Spegni la censura, Accendi Blackout” in risposta a quella classe politica che con le sue scelte tento’ di oscurare e zittire 18 anni di libera informazione autofinanziata.

Tanti artisti, cantanti, musicisti, produttori ed esponenti del
mondo della cultura aderirono all’iniziativa a salvaguarda di una radio indipendente e di un’informazione libera.

Partendo da questo presupposto e dall’idea della label indipendente 4WEED Records, dal collettivo torinese ROOTIKAL DUB FOUNDATION in cooproduzione con
RADIO BLACKOUT, che nasce la compilation “DUBLACKOUT”.

Joe Ariwa son of legendary dub producer Mad Professor meets Alpha Steppa son and nephew of veteran dub duo Alpha & Omega featuring the seminal reggae/dub pioneer Lee 'Scratch' Perry. Widely regarded as the most unique and charismatic of all Jamaican record producers, Lee 'Scratch' Perry aka The Upsetter is one of reggae's longest serving veterans whose story is inseparable from that of the development of Jamaican popular music. Perry pioneered the development of dub music with his early adoption of effects and remixing to create new instrumental or vocal versions of existing reggae tracks. Undoubtedly one of reggae's most prolific and influential producers Perry has worked with the likes of Bob Marley and the Wailers, Junior Murvin, The Congos and Max Romeo to name a few. Joe Ariwa's first touch with music was as a two year old when he plugged a guitar amp into his father's mixing desk. Being privileged to be the son of a renowned artist/ technician Joe learned most of his skills at the knee of an excellent teacher. Growing up in and around Mad Professor's infamous Ariwa Studios Joe quickly developed the skills and technical know-how required to engineer, mix and produce forward thinking dub music with a solid roots foundation. Joe has a string of releases under his belt featuring collaborations with legendary reggae artists including Horace Andy, Dennis Bovell, Earl 16, Michael Prophet and of course Mad Professor himself. Growing up in a similar environment to Joe, Steppas label head Alpha Steppa has also been immersed in soundsystem culture from a very young age and now plays an active role in the developing new wave of dub music. This release features two unique vocal and dub cuts from Lee 'Scratch' Perry produced and mixed by Joe and Alpha - Second generation dub with a rootical foundation. Presented in the brand new black & gold foil printed Steppas house-bag, quality assured with the golden lion stamp of approval.

Depuis 12 000 ans le plus vieux festival religieux de l'histoire de l'humanité, la "Maha Kumbh Mela", se déroule en Inde et cela tout les 12 ans. Accordé à l'astrologie et l'alignement des planètes le festival rassemble près de 99 millions de pèlerins Hindou durant 1 mois. C'est dans ce carde là que Jungle Weed a composé cet album en enregistrant des musiciens, des chanteurs mais aussi tout sorte de sons et de bruits d'ambiance.

Il progetto Lab Frequency nasce a Parma nel 2006 con l’obiettivo di promuovere la musica dub in tutte le sue sfaccettature sonore, dalle radici più primordiali del suono jamaicano alle contaminazioni più moderne di stampo britannico e francese. Iniziato come dj set, si trasforma presto in un live che, grazie ai 6 elementi che lo compongono, è in grado di esplorare sapientemente le infinite combinazioni musicali che si aprono grazie alla contaminazione di strumenti tradizionali e computer.Ha all’attivo diverse release sull’etichetta francese Original Dub Gathering e sulle nostrane Italian Dub Community e 4weed Records, nonchè live in tutta la penisola e in Europa al fianco anche di alcuni tra gli indiscussi guru internazionali del genere come Mad Professor, Zion Train, Iration Steppas, Martin Campbell, Vibronics e Aba Shanti.L'attività di dj set è proseguita comunque negli anni, sempre più contaminata dalle sonorità dubstep. Nel 2011 La crew ha suonato come resident al Queen Club di Milano e al MU di Parma, trovandosi a condividere il palco con artisti come Skream, Kode 9, Pinch, 16 Bit, Icicle, Data, Phace, Dj Spooky, Funkarma, Sukh Knight, Numa Crew, Jack Sparrow.

The LabFrequency born in 2006 in Parma (Italy), with the intention of promoting Dub music from the origins to its evolution. Characterized by the fusion of dub and electronics, from roots to dubstep, they began as a DJ, then decide to bring their productions at party's, building up a live set.
