"You don't sound like anyone else," said Danny Thompson - renowned bass player for Nick Drake and Joe Strummer - about English musician Conil.

The GRAMMY-winning engineer for Tom Waits and Elvis Costello, Tchad Blake said: "Strange Part of the Country is an awesome album! I still listen to it."

Fleetwood Mac legend Peter Green liked Conil's music so much he stopped by Conil’s house to record with him. They recorded a version of Conil's homage to the jazz greats "Round Midnight". 

Strange Part of the Country never conformed to any current trends and has remained timeless. Now, people are discovering this album and it is becoming an all-time favourite. 

When the album was released in the UK, it received some amazing press. Britain's biggest selling music monthly Q magazine gave it: "Four stars - Q Recommends". Blues Matters magazine wrote: "One of the most original artists out there". In the next issue, Blues Matters put him on the front cover.

Conil left London after Strange Part of the Country was released and has spent the last ten years living in the United States and Europe - including New Orleans, New York City, and Berlin.

We are two musicians from the south of Germany.
Kurt Seßler ist the songwriter and singer. Werner Zeeb - as a multiinstrumentalist - plays all the instruments and is the producer.

We have been working together since 2021 and released our first album "Märchen" (12 songs) in March 2022. 
In 2023 we released two singles:  "Wenn" (March 2023) and "N.N." (October 2023).
On April 5th, 2024 our first single with English lyrics “If No One” was released - a Pop/Rock-ballad.
On June7th, 2024 we released another single in English: "If You Believe Me", a progressive rock track. For the first time, there is also a music video.

Our latest release is the single "Superstar" (November 8th, 2024). An unplugged Contemporary Folk song, played only with acoustic instruments.

Our genre is Rock and Pop with influences from other music styles.

This all began in 1995 when, as a teenager, he longed to emulate his musical idols. Then several friends decided to give some concerts for fun.
We had to record a demo produced with the then lead guitarist of the Aragonese group TAKO (Pablo Moreno) who also produced the band's recordings at the time and in which we had several collaborations with members of the group.
After a few years I decided to return to this facet of my life but in a more mature way, building my Home Studio from scratch which you never finish completing because you are always adding instrumentation. I have been doing self-taught tests and training myself through specific training courses. I have more than 100 instrumental songs on the market that I own and author. Four EPs and one LP.

I am a founding member of LA SEPTIMA FAROLA with whom we have been preparing songs for some time. We already have three singles on the market and on January 4, 2024 our first EP CUANTO TIEMPO will be released, so it is very popular on streaming platforms.
I make music for audiovisuals.
I have composed several scenes for the film.
“Godot Collectors” An independent film that has had very good acceptance in the festivals where it has been presented internationally.
I am composing several soundtracks for short films that are in the post-production process.

In addition to doing work for different clients.
Music is a passion that I like to experience. It would be wonderful if this hobby became my way of life.

Conil’s music reached even further when Fleetwood Mac blues icon Peter Green made a rare visit to his studio, drawn by deep admiration. Their encounter led to a hauntingly mellow version of Conil’s homage to the jazz greats, “Woke Up Around Midnight.”

Few artists cross boundaries like Conil, and it hasn’t gone unnoticed. Admirers of his genre-defying sound include guitar icon Marc Ribot, British folk-blues pioneer Davey Graham, bass maestro Pino Palladino, and studio legend John Leckie.

As Strange Part of the Country continues to resonate with listeners around the world, it’s enjoying a well-deserved renaissance, becoming a lasting favorite.

Upon its release, the album made a quiet but undeniable impact in the UK. Q Magazine awarded it four stars and a coveted Q Recommends stamp, while Blues Matters featured Conil on its front cover, calling him “one of the most original artists out there.”

In the U.S., “Years Between” climbed to number three on the Alternative Radio Chart, receiving widespread airplay across the country.

Growing up in England, Conil has always felt a deep connection to American music. With close family ties and long-standing friendships across the U.S., the bond runs both deep and personal.

In 2011, he embarked on a transformative decade-long journey through some of the world’s most musically rich cities. From the soul of New Orleans to the grit of New York, the depth of Chicago, and the spirit of Austin, then across the Atlantic to Berlin and Athens, he immersed himself in each place, chasing a deeper understanding of music and the lives it shapes.

Conil is currently working on his long-awaited second album, a project that reunites him with Danny Thompson and Tchad Blake.

The Rooms is a collective project that started in suburban Lisbon more than a decade ago. It evolves through numerous and constant collaboration, musically and visually.

The majority of its years based in Macau, South East Asia, it has been able to gather from time to time local and international artists and musicians inside a room, located on the high rise industrial buildings down by the city´s docks. 

The Rooms is an audio visual colective of individuals. It lives on numerous and constant collaboration. It crosses worlds, connected, interconnected, interwoven, intertwined, present, and alive. It feeds on cultural fire, references, history, language, music, dance, film, and art.

 It's cinematic.

We're back to the outskirts of Lisbon. Deep in its industrial and production tissue. Where factories meet residential areas and social housing flats. Gas stations and warehouses. Empty fields abandoned or unfilled. Blocks and boxes locked in cold cement amidst the perpetual hum of super highways and city orbital roads.

A makeshift territory to shelter multitudes.

Where we'll be pressing on,  grinding away, hammering on organical mechanics, aiming to continue to do the best music and visuals we can. Inspired by the raw, coarse, rough, and unpolished ways of the worlds that surround and live inside us, we'll be tailoring some new fabric soon. 

The Rooms music is a fruit of love and a soundtrack for the times we are living. Between the dark and the light is where we meet and play.
