Unsichtbar & Überall 

Was ist quasi überall vorhanden und bleibt für uns trotzdem unsichtbar?

Für viele Bürger der heutigen Industriestaaten ist das Internet, mit all seinen Vorzügen, sowie Schattenseiten zu einer Selbstverständlichkeit geworden. Durch die exorbitante Verbreitung von mobilem Datenvolumen und handlichen Smartphones kann jederzeit, an fast jedem Ort im www gesurft werden. Doch auch unabhängig von dieser Entwicklung, gehört ein W-LAN Router mittlerweile zur Grundausstattung in einem Haushalt. Das Internet hat sukzessive Einzug in alle Bereiche des Lebens gehalten und das in relativ kurzer Zeit. Einer der Hauptgründe dafür ist die Praktikabilität. Besonders in den Krisenjahren wurde uns allen verdeutlicht, wie praktisch das Internet doch ist. Zum einen ersetzt es die physische Mobilität. Durch diverse Tools und Anwendungen kann in einigen Berufen bequem von Zuhause aus gearbeitet werden. Die einzige notwendige Bedingung ist ein Internetanschluss und entsprechendes Endgerät. Doch auch das sozial Leben hat durch das omnipräsente Netz einen radikalen Wandel erfahren. Das Schreiben von Briefen, klassische Telefonate oder auch das physische Beisammensein für gemeinsame Aktivitäten, wurden mehr als weniger obsolet. Heutzutage kann man quasi alle Bereiche der Kommunikation mit nur einer App abdecken und darüber hinaus mit Freunden und Bekannten über Distanzen von tausenden Kilometern in Echtzeit kommunizieren. Diese technischen Errungenschaften haben bei all ihren immanenten Vorzügen auch eine negative Seite. Besonders in der zwischenmenschlichen Kommunikation geht durch Textnachrichten vieles verloren. Das führt zu einem zu Missverständnissen und darüber hinaus verbleibt das getippte Gespräch häufig auf einem recht oberflächlichen Niveau. Tiefe entsteht meist nur beim Kontakt von Angesicht zu Angesicht. Diesen Umstand kann auch das Internet nur bis zu einem gewissen Punkt substituieren. Ähnlich verhält es sich mit dem Homeoffice oder der Online-Lehre. Tendenziell ist die Motivation zuhause geringer als an einem festen, externen Arbeitsplatz. Die Versuchung der Ablenkung ist daheim sehr viel stärker, als bspw. in einem Büro. Auch die fehlenden Kollegen, Mitschüler oder auch andere Studierende machen sich deutlich und spürbar bemerkbar. Gegenseitiges befeuern, voneinander lernen oder auch wetteifern werden durch die räumliche Trennung deutlich reduziert. Das unsichtbare Netz bringt viel gutes mit sich, aber es lässt die Menschen sich auch entfremden. Fallen Dir noch weitere Beispiele ein, in denen das Internet still und heimlich einen oder mehrere Lebensbereiche reformiert hat?

There’s a certain aura that surrounds the music coming out of Romania. The scene, something that has been in existence since the early 90’s has long been acknowledged as a breeding ground for illustrious DJ’s and producer talent. Anyone with even a passing interest in underground electronic music will attest that. Having spent countless hours listening to a plethora of music genres while growing up in Romania, Miami-based Adrian developed a wide knowledge of music, which helped him craft a rich sound of his own.

This mix feels like starting an exciting new chapter in my musical journey. Today, 4 years after my first mix was released in Amsterdam, I'm proud to put up this recording, to serve as a bright memory of starting an exciting new chapter with the beautiful people over at Levantine House ( instagram.com/levantinehouse )in Amsterdam's newest beach club on the IJ @ KAAP (Thanks for having us 🎪❣️). It was such an incredible true family gathering, with a tribe of humans who I have grown to love and respect over the last 4 years since we connected through the music community here. After two long years of uncertainty, limbo and isolation, it truly was an emphatic experience playing music in a packed club again. The vibe was palpable, as we all needed to collectively shake it out🙌🏾 

That night was a true musical communion. My heart is absolutely full. Seeing you all out there, and the energy bubbling forth out there, the beautiful smiles and raptures of dance and celebration together at the end of the long dark (and for many, isolated) winter days was completely energizing, and also brought out my best that night.

I felt loved and seen by you all, and you all got to see feel and share my emotions along with it. I cannot wait for the next gathering! Thank you all so much habibis! We are back! 🧚🏼‍♀️Welche Artists und DJs inspirieren Dich?

Township Rebellion verfolge ich seit 2016 und bin immer sehr gespannt auf die neuen Releases, ihr Style ist sehr einzigartig.

Außerdem liebe ich die Tracks von Sainte Vie, seitdem ich das Burning Man Set 2019 gesehen habe bin ich ein richtiger Fan von seinen Produktionen geworden.

Als DJ auf jeden Fall Solomun, er war einer der DJs die ich von Anfang an verfolgt habe, besonders die 5h Sets vom BPM Festival México, leider findet dass nicht mehr statt.

🧚🏼‍♀️Wie viel Zeit nimmst du dir in der Woche für Musik?

Sehr viel, durch KataHaifisch (Podcasts & Label + Premieren Anfragen) das kostet alles viel Zeit, wenn dazu noch die Podcasts kommen die ich selber gestalte (Musik Diggin) und SoundCloud Nachrichten beantworten oder allgemeine Anfragen, würde ich auf 20-25h schätzen, obwohl auch nicht jede Woche identisch ist, kommt auch immer drauf an was gerade ansteht an Releases oder auch eigene Veranstaltungen.
Trotzdem ist es das beste Hobby was man haben kann❤️

🧚🏼‍♀️Welches Talent hättest du gerne und warum?

Da ich seit diesem Jahr endlich die Zeit und die gewisse Neugierde entdeckt habe fürs produzieren, hoffe ich dort noch ein bestimmtes Talent zu entwickeln, ist aber auch alles eine Frage der Zeit, weil man immer wieder neue Sachen (z.b Plugins & Ableton Features) entdeckt die einen dem Horizont erweitern können und es echt schwierig ist erstmal seinen eigenen “Style” zu finden.

Unsere Nr. 235 kommt heute von einem international bekannten DJ und Producer, welchen ich seit einer geraumen Zeit aufmerksam verfolge. Die Rede ist von dem in Toronto wohnhaften Mustafa Ismaeel. Geboren im Irak, aufgewachsen in Indien und gereift in Kanada… interkulturelle Kompetenzen hat dieser Mann definitiv in seinem alles andere als linearen Leben erworben. Nicht ohne Grund hat seine Biographie einen starken Einfluss auf seinen einzigartigen Musikstil genommen. Er selber beschreibt dies mit dem Ausloten und der Neudefinition von Grenzen. Grenzen denen er selber immer wieder aufs Neue ausgesetzt war. Und Grenzen, die er selber für sich gestalten musste.  

Das von Ihnen eingespielte Set ist eine spannende ‚afterhoureske‘ Reise ins Dickicht der melodischen, hypnotischen und teils verspielten elektronischen Musik. Angereichert mit einer Menge an Instrumental- und Vocalpassagen, verleiht er der Aufnahme einen samtweichen und vor allem sonnigen Charakter voll des positiven Gefühls. Etwas, was ich in der aktuell unsicheren Zeit gut gebrauchen kann und mich tatsächlich mit einem guten Gefühl nach dem Hören entlässt. Neben all des positiven Charakters vergisst er aber nicht die gehörige Portion an Tiefgang in seinem Set zu implementieren. Dadurch hält er gewagt, aber gekonnt, die Waage zwischen Leichtigkeit und Nachdenklichkeit. 

Schnallt euch an… Ich kann mich nur wiederholen, aber es erwartet euch eine Reise durch verspielte und hypnothische Felder, die wie gemacht für eine Afterhour sind….seid gespannt.

Interview:

What are your musical influences? What is your musical background?

My musical influences are a quite broad range of genres and artists, but
i also realize that there is many similarities and patterns that are
shared between them. For me i like meaningful music, it can be anything
from minimal house to progressive.

My background in music was mainly vocals when i was a young kid, and
then in the mid teenager years i started playing acoustic guitar and
hand drums. I was always a music collector and lover of different
somewhat underground genres like dub reggae, Indie, Hip Hop and then
elctronic music.

What makes good “afterhour”?

For me a good afterhour is about the vibe, the people and the purity and
consistency of the sound. Solid groovy sound that is somewhat minimal
and comfortable to the ears. Storytelling for an emotionally intelligent
setting.

Do you have any thoughts you would like to share about your set?

This is the first studio recorded podcast I’m putting out after more
than a year. it took me a while to make one due to traveling and studio
work so im happy to be finaly sharing this with my listeners. Hope you
enjoy this groovy afterhour journey.
