🎵 Dario Klein, jofunk & Max Härtel - Live @ Myzel im Friedenspark Köln (30. Mai 2025)🎵

Shortly after Arkadiusz arrived at Dario Klein's flat in cologne, he was taken along to a Myzel collective open-air event. Rumour had it that they would be jamming spontaneously. What happened next was simply beautiful and perfect for an open-air event in the middle of summer. The atmosphere was sunny and positive, with funky interludes and a great groove.

✔️ What are your musical influences? 

We are an improvisation project from Cologne, working with different instrumentalists: Sometimes in our Cologne studio, and sometimes on stage! All our sets are created completely in the moment. Nothing is planned or pre-produced, which allows us to move in different directions and react spontaneously to the dance floor.

We produce all the sounds with our instruments: Dario Klein plays the drum machine and electric bass, Jofunk plays the keys, and Max Härtel plays the saxophone and flute.

This set was created at a sunny open-air party organised by the Cologne Myzel Kollektiv, who hold events at various off-site locations in Cologne.


Although we have different musical backgrounds, this set showcases our shared passion for grooving. Influences from soul, funk, jazz and breakbeats can all be heard in the set. All in all, it's bouncy but emotional!


✔️ In your opinion, what makes a good afterhour?
The best after-hours events are always spontaneous! If spontaneous, then full power!


✔️ What thoughts would you like to share with us about your mix?
The most important idea we pursue with our live sets is to live in the moment. We don't plan everything down to the smallest detail because it's bound to go wrong! But we do it with a smile on our faces. The principle behind our sets is simple: Think less, just do it! Nothing can go wrong without a plan!

 
✔️ How did you feel about the gig?
We found this gig particularly exciting because the three of us had only met once before. Namely, at the dress rehearsal.

We all know this moment, you are lying in bed with a loved one and the world stands still.

You put on some music to set the scene for rising temperatures under the sheets…

The set you put on suddenly brings you out of rhythm, but getting up to skip the track is no longer an option.

We have been scouting for the perfect Sunday morning sets for quite a while already and while "Eigentlich heissen wir Klaus" & "Mattmosphere" have been steady suppliers of them for us, we also developed the idea of asking befriended artists to record one hour of music, to which they like to stay in bed with a loved one.

It's an intimate ask, but most of them said yes.

For Cuddle Cast #34 we asked @bretfast from the beautiful Taunus region to create a journey for us and he made the perfect trip for sunny summer Sundays in bed.

A trick of my mind  - 2025

Playing at Garbicz was a big dream I've had since my the first time I attended it back in 2019. So there was so much fiery yet patient passion in me lounging to be expressed in this debut set. At the same time, I have felt the collective burden SO much given all the unacceptable atrocities going on in many places in the world...

A lesson my therapist has helped me to navigate it: the price we pay for suppressing a certain emotion is that we end up suppressing ALL of our emotions.

Let that sink in for a moment...

The joy I felt was not "despite" everything happening in the world, but rather In Acknowledgement and Recognition of it, with all the emotions it evokes. It was the only way I found to honor the blessing of living this dream authentically. That’s why this became one of my most powerful sets.

Nina Simone once said: “An artist’s duty is to reflect the times.” And this set truly did! It was a proper blast with many of my favorite tracks AND, at the same time, a prayer filled with powerful messages and (indigenous) wisdom to guide us through the times we are living.

Thank you to Garbicz for having me, especially to @lichtung_garbicz and to everything it Stands for. Also big gratitude to every friend and dancer who waited through delays, woke up early, or stepped out of their tents to join me at @alisteebar. Your fiery energy is woven into the recording 🔥 And to those who shed tears during or after — I feel you. I cried twice while preparing this set myself.

May it uplift us to meet the responsibility that comes with privileges. May it remind us of the power of our daily choices. May it spark peace, unity, and positive change in a fractured world. Because we are truly strong only when we stand together! And I deeply believe in the connective Power of Music to help us get there 🫶🏼

An absolutely stunning location, the loveliest people around and just straight-up a round organized by friends for friends of our Kollektiv Nachtkerze. I had an absolute blast behind the decks with @francesco_rizzi, improvising the biggest part of this session but therefore ending up with something real, that really lived in the moment. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did that day.. still gives me goosebumps.

U.K. Producer Dan Watts has pedigree, he's been involved in dance music since the late 1980's. A passion for early Electro gave way to new beat, acid house and techno. The desire to share 'the new sound' led to scores of illegal rave parties and numerous DJ residencies. A string of white label releases through the the 90's under various guises eventually led to the Fractal Architect production moniker. Under this name Dan brings to the table his own unique and genre blurring brand of deep, melodic electronic dance music. With signings to many high profile labels including Armada, Manual Music, MBF and Cinematique, and his monthly radio show Depth Perception on DNA FM, the future is looking bright for Fractal Architect.
