Falling

In this piece the newly invented string instruments are playing in combination with flute, soprano voice and piano. The strings are being stretched between the beams of the mezzanine of the building and also hanging from the ceiling beams with heavy weights on them. The hanging strings surround the audience and musicians. A very special building HET VEEM (Van Diemenstraat 410, 1013 CR Amsterdam) - former warehouse, where the piece was premiered, inspired us to create these instruments and this composition. The concert was performed as a part of Toetsdestijds Concerten Series.

“So lazily…” aka “Tak líně…” is my only second song in Czech. Well, Czech is my mother tongue and I can’t explain why I use it so little for singing.
I record this one during early autumn while enjoying one of last warm evening on balcony.

It is about the time and how lazily it flows. About how time is not waiting... About how you can’t fool it. Sometimes the time seems eternal that one would believe that what is here today will be here tomorrow. But oh, the train goes, doesn't wait and suddenly it's gone. And you look in disbelief and try to catch up with what is no longer here.

Time passes, seasons follows each other regularly, the sun always shines after the clouds. We let things happening, because we cannot control them, because we know we can at best control our reactions to events, but nothing more. We let it go, because it’s easier, we go with the flow, because it’s too hard to go against the stream. We do so by wisdom or laziness? This may depend who you ask and when you ask…
 
This song is inspired by those key moments where we find ourselves being the spectators of our lives and that we suddenly fear not to be able to act again when needed, where we calmly wait that discomfort passes and realize that we actually don’t wish the situation to change anymore, where we enjoy remaining quiet and passive until better times come, where we see the train passing and find ourselves unable to get on board…

The Lockdown Sessions is a conceptual instrumental Jazz EP composed and recorded during the covid-19 lockdown in April 2020.

The album reflects the perception of the artist before, during and his hope for the future.

SOHO
This is a song that represents past. A more relaxed and classic Jazz club take on experiencing live music. You can even hear people clapping together before social distancing was even a thing. At the end is noticeable that something happen. It all have been so abrupt. 

WHAT’S GOING ON? (INTERLUDE 1)
This short statement transition us from an unexpected situation to an emotional state. Uncertainty comes to mind.

QUARANTINE
This song represents present, the lockdown state. Fear, sadness, acceptance. Everything into a sensible deep instrumentation form of chords waiting to transcend into emotions. This song really reflects the way I’m feeling (at the moment of writing this) regarding this crazy situation. (By the way, today is easter Sunday. )

WHAT NOW? (INTERLUDE 2)
This interlude is very calming and soothing. I was emotionally tired when I was composing this piece, So I created the music I needed to hear at the moment. An easy and warm transition to the future ahead, the kind of music that tucks you into bed. Tomorrow will be another day.

NOVEMBER
A song that represents change, a new beginning, a future cohesive sound to embrace. November will deliver an immersive experience. We don’t know when and if things will get back to “normal” November is just a dot in the horizon to think about the future. There will always be another November…

Ladat, born Ladislav Tesar, is Litomerice (Czech republic) native, body and soul, who writes and composes his music in Chatel-St-Denis, Switzerland. Ladat is not a band in the true sense of the word, but rather a musical project that emerged in 2019 as an escape from reality, because things go better with music.

Ladat's musical odyssey defies conventional labels and freely blends elements of rock, folk, country, and jazz into a rich and genre-bending style that invites listeners to explore the diverse spectrum of influences that shape his emotional and diverse compositions.
