So there’s these four reject space cadets from Northampton, England, Earth. They are The Retro Spankees and they make this hyperactive, DIY, Ctrl Alt Pop sound.
Their debut album “I Know You Are But What Am I?” - an enthusiastic romp through two minute pop songs released on Kooky Discs in 2006, followed by EP dedicated to the late great Richard Whitely entitled “Vowel Play” led to performances alongside gigging comrades Bearsuit, Misty’s Big Adventure, Das Wanderlust, Applicants, Polysics and more!

They’ve starred alongside Noddy Holder in the video for Misty’s Big Adventure’s ironic hit “Fashion Parade” and also briefly been the backing band for the legendary graphic novelist Alan Moore. Pretty Cool huh?
They went away to make some babies, wear some suits, paint their faces and change their bassist. Now they are back with a meagre vengeance and are out to prove that they have, well, nothing to prove.

They’ve made a new record, and they call it Meagre Vengeance. If their first album was a kid at school, this one has left school and entered the work place. It doesn’t like it’s job very much. It doesn’t like the people it serves, it doesn’t like the people it works with, and it really doesn’t like the people it works for!
It’s calling out to others that feel the same saying, “Hey you guys, we’re better than this. We’re capable of so much more than this and there’s nothing we can do about any of it. Let’s ride this Underling Express. Let’s back chat the Man. Let’s under achieve. Let’s weird out our colleagues. Let’s be Meagre, and have stupid noisy fun whilst we’re doing it!”

BBC 6 Music Round Table winners and former members of Norwich art-rock/indie-pop outfit Bearsuit.

Mega Emotion are the robe-wearing cult that build dense layers of sound looping both live and electronic drums against synths and scuzzy guitars. 

They have won Steve Lamacq’s Roundtable on BBC 6 Music, seen their demo material play-listed as a 6 Music Recommends track of the week, and been championed on XFM and by BBC Introducing.

Live, they have played for John Kennedy’s Remedy showcase in London, and supported the likes of Acid Mothers Temple, Shonen Knife, Melt Banana, Thumpers, Lonelady and Yuck.

Their debut single Uncomfortable was released on cassette by Post/Pop Records – who have released cassette tracks by Everything Everything, Pulled Apart By Horses, Ash, Johnny Foreigner and We Are Scientists.

Their split debut vinyl album 'Move Motherf*cker' (with their grunge alter-egos Lady Di) is scheduled to come out this summer.

Royal rock from the makers of Bearsuit and Mega Emotion – inspired by Dinosaur Junior, Urusei Yatsura, The Breeders and Sonic Youth. Norwich trio Lady Di promise dumb-ass slacker rock, drunk summer nights, chaotic noise, cherry lip balm & hearts on fire.

The band have just released a new album ‘The Phantom Forest’, produced by Gareth Parton (The Go Team, Foals, Breeders) on Fortuna Pop (Pains of Being Pure At Heart, Crystal Stilts).

They toured the UK in February and March 2011, before heading to SXSW to play a showcase slot curated by Huw Stephens (BBC Radio 1), The British Music Embassy and The Guardian, alongside Bombay Bicycle Club, Little Comets, Esben and the Witch, and Gallops.

The band have just played at Primavera (Spain) and Liverpool Music Week and will be touring Europe this summer, with festivals including Contempopranea and  Razzmatazz (Spain) and the Cosy Den Festival (Sweden).

Bearsuit have previously played various festivals including Latitude, Bestival, The Great Escape and Offset, as well as several abroad including SXSW, Emmaboda (Sweden) and CMJ in New York, where they were voted ‘Best Breakthrough Act’ in a New York Times poll of badge-holders and received shining reviews, including Pitchfork.

The band have also supported the likes of Factory Floor, Crystal Castles, Melt Banana, Future of the Left and Hot Chip.

They have previously released records on Fantastic Plastic Records (Ash, Ikara Colt, Futureheads, The Guillemots)

Bearsuit have been championed by BBC radio DJs including Steve Lamacq, Huw Stephens, Zane Lowe, Rob Da Bank, Phill Jupitus, Marc Riley, John Peel, Tom Ravenscroft, Tom Robinson, Colin Murray, Gideon Coe and John Kennedy on XFM.

Accolades include scooping ‘Vinyl of the Week’ in the NME, ‘Pick of the Week’ in The Guardian, and ‘Album of the Fortnight’ in Artrocker, as well as reviews in Rolling Stone and Pitchfork.

As well as touring extensively in the UK, the band completed a 16-date tour of the US in 2008, taking in Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Chicago, Grand Rapids, St Louis and Pittsburgh.

British comedian Adam Buxton talks with interesting people. The rambly conversations are sometimes funny, sometimes more serious with funny bits. Adam records the intros and outros for most episodes while walking with his dog friend Rosie in the East Anglian countryside where he lives with his wife and three children. 

Adam has appeared in films such as ‘Hot Fuzz’, ‘Stardust’ and ‘Son Of Rambow’ as well as a variety of TV shows in the UK. Since 2007 he has hosted ‘BUG’, a live show that combines music videos and comedy that became a TV series on Sky Atlantic in 2012. From time to time he also does live shows featuring just his own material. Along with lifelong friend Joe Cornish he also is one half of award winning TV, radio and podcast duo Adam & Joe who have worked together since 1995.
