This week we're all about "low-end hitters and dancehall business", as the Warsaw-based DJ and vocalist hermeneia is at the helm of our Rhythmic Culture podcast. Not only is she running the FURDA event series – she's also associated with Unsound Festival and holds down a regular show on LYL and Noods Radio. Erótica Castro is a versatile producer, DJ, and audiovisual designer based in Buenos Aires, who is also a co-founder of the influential record label @santasedelabel. Recognized for his work on labels such as @muakk.xoxo, @rawaclub, @radiorea, and @nofutureb3rl1n, he has released tracks and mixtapes that explore the fusion of various musical genres.

In this mix, he invites us on a journey through the Santa Sede catalog combined with his own tracks. From slow rhythms to dizzying speeds, he merges breakbeats and dembow with experimental sounds.

Santa Sede, based in Buenos Aires, is a pioneering netlabel in experimental club music, led by Erótica Castro and JM Croce. Its musical palette spans a spectrum of Latin American sounds, both urban and folkloric, alongside experimental elements and the ethos of rave culture, all elevated with subtle touches of autotune.

Manuel Sékou is an audio/visual producer, assembler, viewer, collaborator and hoarder from Dresden, currently based in Cologne. He’s been attracting attention since 2016 with numerous audio works, live-sets and online radio-shows under the moniker @luxxuryproblems. Yet he’s complementing his musical output in the field of visual arts through several self-published books and exhibitions. His Sound has been published via @spa_recordings, @katharsislabel, @comicsansrec, @infinitoaudiolabel and @76666, to name a few. For the current LAFmusik show he squeezed some breaks and classics as kick off for the season. Enjoy listening.

Sucre sucre’s musical foundation lies at the crossroads of classical music and reggae – a combination that continues to shape her approach as a DJ based between Berlin and Vienna. Her fascination with the ambiguous and genre-fluid began early, influenced by formative experiences in church choirs, traditional East African music, and her sister’s collection of garage records. When not moving between her two home cities, she turns to her favorite ritual: spending hours on a kneeling stool – her preferred position for focused listening and sonic exploration. Her collection is ever-expanding, guided by a taste for the unconventional: tracks with unusual lyrics, offbeat energy, or irresistibly strong basslines. A true Capricorn, she follows intuition over direction, letting instinct lead the way. Motivated by a desire to tell stories and a deep curiosity about sound, sucre sucre is constantly refining her musical identity – unafraid to cross boundaries, take risks, and lose herself in new and unfamiliar sonic landscapes. @sucr3sucre

Fran Poch (Chilean, based in Berlin) describes herself as a bedroom music selector. She has spent countless hours listening to music, sharing it mostly just with her pillow and maybe a few close friends. Designer, painter, music digger, and synthesizer lover. Someone who’s easily fascinated by interesting sounds and colors. Very sensorial.

Although she listens to all kinds of music, including Brazilian and Latin, what she mostly shares in her mixes are synth melodies, videogame-like music, leftfield and early electronics, krautrock, post-punk, and neue deutsche welle. Pretty much cosmic sounds with interesting textures and melodies, whether cheerful or obscure, stimulating or hypnotizing.

Open to all kinds of sounds, her taste is constantly shifting, always in search of new sounds that provokes her and takes her on a journey.

„Paul Ebhart is an artist, musician, DJ, and above all, a dedicated collector of sound. Under his long-standing alias DJ Ebhardy, active since his teenage years, he crafts intense DJ and live sets that resist genre definitions. Instead, his sets are shaped by a distinct sense of urgency, rebellion, and attitude—channelling a hypnotic, high-voltage energy that slips between dancefloor euphoria and sonic disorientation. Based in Vienna, Ebhart operates at the intersection of sound, performance, and installation. He studied experimental and electroacoustic music at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, and TransArts at the University of Applied Arts. His work explores the social, technical, and spatial conditions under which sound is created, transmitted, and experienced. Using body extensions, site-specific interventions, and performative strategies, he investigates how sound is archived, embodied, and reactivated. In 2023, Ebhart released his debut solo album under the moniker THESOSUNG. His output spans both DJ and live formats, appearing on labels such as Osàre! Editions, angels carry guns, Mikro, and Sameheads. His practice moves fluidly between club contexts and experimental art spaces—always in pursuit of sound’s raw, transformative potential.“
