Years back in the days of the “Kazbah loft”, Ali and I threw some epic parties.  If you remember those of you know, the brick and timber with the sunrise vibes.  The rooftop looking at the Transamerica pyramid. They typically would be ending the next day. So, when 9am hit, it always felt like the appropriate time to soften up the vibes musically. I would do just that. Our friends came up with the nickname Louie Soft Hands.  

Recently, I was djing a friend’s wedding in Austin, Texas and I was hearing some of those same friends yelling out “Louie Soft Hands!”.  Seeing how much people enjoy the softer side of house music made me think that I should start a series of “Louie Soft Hands” inspired mixes. So here is the first mix.  I hope you enjoy it! 

I made sure to include mine and TR-BOB’s recently released track “Talk to Her” as well as a Sade edit that we made exclusively for playing out or for mixes such as this one.

It only took 6 months, but I'm finally uploading my sunrise set at the NUTZ Camp from Burning Man 2014.  As with 2013, it's a mix of all sorts of music, from House and Progressive to Classics.  This year, I was joined by my good friend John Early (starting around the 2 hour mark) for a tag team set and it was a lot of fun taking it back with some nice classic House tracks.  It's an unedited 4:41 minutes, hope you enjoy!  Sorry, no track listing on this one, things got a little messy that morning... ;)  

Special thanks to all of my friends at the NUTZ Camp for having me on the decks again this year.  This is one of my favorite gigs of the week out on the playa!

The Winter Social is a boutique music festival showcasing a selection of a handful of top quality dance music acts in the idyllic setting of the Kent County Showground in Maidstone, Kent, UK. Presenting their mix for the occasion a duo from UK, Eli & Fur.

Located a stones throw away from London at the beautiful Kent County Showground. The venue captures the great outdoors, and an intimacy among its raw Warehouse space that sets the atmosphere for the one-dayer. The Social is brought together by Saved Records, the independent music label of house and techno DJ Nic Fanciulli.

Recently the organisers dropped the 3rd and final phase for the Winter Social line-up, which looks really promising for true lovers of deeper house and techno. This edition of the festival is bringing longstanding acts, such as Kompakt's head Adam Bayer, Innervision's Ame, the immense Maya Jane Coles, Guy Gerber, who's Rumors series in Ibiza got great appreciations this summer, Holland's finest Joris Voorn.

Alongside the latter, a few of names, rising to it's worldwide recognition, icluding UK's Eli & Fur. Since breaking onto the scene in 2012, Eli & Fur are known for their captivating sets, which have seen the duo playing next to the likes of Maceo Plex, Hot Since 82 and Dusky. To know what to be expected, the ladies brought together a strong party kicking bouncing mix, that we are happy to share.

Shelley Johannson presents One-Eighty 041

You may remember nearly two years back we had @peaceinnoise (#168) put together an incredible guest mix for us.  Their mix is one that I get quite a few comments about even two years later. I'll meet someone in passing and it seems like the mix that people always mention they enjoyed was theirs. One half of that group is our guest mix artist for this week Dersu.  I was all for it when Dersu asked if he could get back in there for his solo project. When he is not working as the Design Director/Creative at @Vice in Los Angeles, or as Creative Director of the style/music online magazine @Witness-This, he is also at the forefront of an amazing charity event Night Cause. A monthly non-profit that showcases some incredible talent and the headliner chooses a particular cause/charity to support. This week Dersu really delves into the deep reaches of house and techno. It is an extremely relaxing and enjoyable ride with twists and turns that keep you engaged and make you want to keep on winding down the road just to see where it leads. Trust me you will be happy with the destination.
