Lancelele is a collection of songs culled from various albums of mine and performed with just ukulele and voice. It is not necessarily my "greatest hits," so much as it is the top 12 songs that I felt transferred best to ukulele.

Many of the songs are much shorter in these versions than they were on the original recordings because I've cut down on the soloing and "fancy stuff." I wanted to strip the songs down to their bare essences.  Although I love the original recordings, I feel that this helps the listener to focus on the heart and core of each song.

I hope you enjoy listening to Lancelele as much as I have enjoyed recording it. A lot. I enjoyed it a lot.

Summer of '17 Assorted SC Greats

A little over 1 week ago Laser Beam challenged me to write a happy song or happy love song, and I've never been able to manage a happy song without it being total shit, so I really thought about what actually made me happy right now, and it was my buddies here on Soundcloud. I have never felt so much love coming to me virtually or otherwise in a long time, so I thought I'd write a song with all (or at least as many as possible) people I've connected with through SC. I managed 56 around which I've tried to make a story for this song.
There are many more, but including everyone would mean a book, not a song. I AM grateful to everyone though, for all their support and love. So this This IS A lalaLOVE song for you.

Nothing To Lose (feat. Kyle Egret)

"Ballad of Little Jungle Turtle" was first recorded for my "Contemporary" album in January of 2015. That recording was also very minimalist, as was the whole album, but I used acoustic guitar instead of ukulele.

Jungle Turtle was born on 7/7/7
Turtle Ma said, "He's a gift from heaven."
She didn't know yet Turtle Pa was gone
He took the last Grey Hound to Saskatchewan

Jungle Turtle grew up on the mean side

"Runaway Go Carts" first appeared on "the Puppeteer's Dream" in September 2015. That version is done in a hard rock style with drums, bass, and electric guitar, although I actually originally wrote the song using a ukulele.

Runaway Go - Carts

"1 /w Everything" was originally released as a single in July of 2015 with "Sound Collage in Mottled Grey" as the b-side. On that recording of this song I also used ukulele, but I added bass guitar, melodica, maracas, and an acoustic guitar solo on the end.

I walked along
Feeling rather bland, man;

A little hot dog stand and
So I did stop by

1 w/Everything

"Love Like Rain," was first released in December of 2014. That recording was also with ukulele, but it was a live recording from a small outside concert and it was a brand new song at the time. I also played a harmonica solo on that recording.

The spring said, “I’m larger than you know,
And I can go where the waters go.”

I said, “Spring how can this be?
You seem so small to me.”
The spring said, “What you see is

Love Like Rain

"The Ballad of Narluga" was first made available on "the Puppeteer's Dream" in September 2015, although I actually wrote it to be a Dandelion Root song. I wanted to sum up the Sasquatch Saga in one song and tie in what I was doing on my solo albums at the time with what I was doing in Dandelion Root. Dandelion Root does play this song live sometimes. I would call the recording of it on "the Puppeteer's Dream" "psychedelic country."

Verse 1:
Once upon a time in Alaska’s woods
In a future not so far
A boy set off to do some good
And he didn’t go by car

He didn’t go by boat or train
To get to a distant place
He didn’t go by bus or plane

"A Bird Flew in My Open Window" comes from the "Broken Reflections" album, November 2015. On that recording I used acoustic guitar and harmonica.
