lena andersson is a fictional character created by berlin-based japanese artist kyoka and irish producer eomac. both met in 2016 during a residency at the stockholm EMS studios. the initial spark of their collaboration was a joint session on the studio's buchla system, later expanding to multiple other sound sources and instruments at sessions in the etopia studio in zaragoza supported by fuga.

during the improvisations, a call-and-response working principle emerged immediately which joins the special talents of both musicians. kyoka's free and experimental approach forms part of the source material that is contrasted with eomac's skillful editing; unconventional reflections face a driving force. from kyoka's extensive field recording collection, an arabesque of disturbing vocal fragments arises that is set against eomac's hard rhythmic framework, as in »das tier«, for instance. »37 years later« or »mystic« live on a vivid texture that has been condensed directly at the mixing console into a kind of dramaturgical capturing of the moment. the immediacy of the collaboration forms the basis for a synergy of the individual production techniques. a strategy that lacks neither absolute creative freedom nor an awareness of musical function.

»söder mälarstrand« thus captures an intuitive cooperation between the two producers, which also refers back to the place of origin through its dialogical, moment-related production principle. the album title is a tribute to the stockholm studios where the project began.

‘Above Red Oaks I’ from Jeremiah M. Carter & Kelby Clark’s forthcoming Townsend EP is a document of acoustic improvisation amidst the ambience of the Appalachian mountains. The recording of fiddle and dobro was captured outside, on a porch in Townsend, Tennessee as a thunderstorm rolled in. Throughout the 12-minute take, gestural interplay of drones and plucked strings begin to emphasize and play off of the dynamics of the environment as the storm passes, and birds burst out in song. While encompassing aspects of field recording, experimental music, free-jazz, and drone; the heart of the EP is rooted in musical traditions of the American South which act as a starting point for further sonic expression. The remainder of tracks on the Townsend EP follow ‘Above Red Oaks I’ in spirit, but expand it’s scope into territories of both further abstraction and minimalism, and in contrast; towards traditional folk music as well. 

The collection of material is being presented in the form of a self-released cassette tape which is now available for pre-order via townsendrelic.bandcamp.com and will be released on September 4th, 2020.

The condition of the posthuman, the impotence of our life in the face of choices forced by "normal society" such as pumping petrol and polluting to go to work, polluting to make a living in a certain sense, polluting to survive... Capitalism has been converted into an algorithm and today these calculations are ungovernable and we become aware while dancing among the ruins distorted by plastic people.  Perhaps there is our first line of ideological war, philosophical resistance, sowing the idea of ​​knowledge starting from the Ruins and Macabre Dances....for Now...let's meditate....

Post Human

Toksynna presents itself as a record label releasing its first two references simultaneously, and although the two releases can be classified as experimental electronics, they are quite far apart, nothing to do with the radioactive and volatile environment of Kick & Cut, by Tester, with this first album by Wanderwerkstatt, new alias of the Italian producer AM.MA. 

Tester's creativity is based on true electronic sound, which has more to do with algorithms than with musicality itself, whereas Wanderwerkstatt is a sum of both concepts, that of elaborate, electronic sounds, and that of harmonic meaning, since the artist perfectly combines both terms.

Satanic Majesties Response is an album with a versatile sound, with a style difficult to define with just a few words. We could do it in many ways, emulating Gustav Holst's planets, with worlds totally different from each other, we could do it in reference to the wide sense that life has, with soundtracks created for each moment, or simply admit that this album is not conceptual and that its author is capable of taking very different influences in his creative process. The conclusion is that it is a 10-track album in which originality prevails above all.
