With the release of our third annual Various Artists Compilation, we’re celebrating three years of LAPS Recordings—and honestly, we can hardly believe it ourselves. What started as a small hobby project has grown into a solid underground label with a clear vision, a loyal community, and a catalogue were genuinely proud of. To mark this anniversary, VA003 brings together a diverse collection of tracks that reflect the full spectrum of our sound—from deep, hypnotic techno to high-energy peak-time bangers, groovy minimal cuts, and melodic journeys. It’s a snapshot of everything LAPS stands for: quality, diversity, and an uncompromising dedication to underground music. This year's edition features a blend of familiar faces and exciting newcomers. Some of the artists on this compilation have already become a part of the LAPS family through past releases, while others are making their debut—some of whom you'll definitely hear more from in the coming months. This VA acts as both a celebration and a preview of what’s to come. In a time when the techno scene is shifting rapidly—and not always to everyone’s liking—we want to take this moment to reaffirm who we are. We’re committed to pushing forward with an open mind, staying true to our roots, and supporting innovative, quality-driven electronic music in all its forms. Most importantly, we want to say thank you—to the artists who trust us with their music, to the dancers and DJs who keep the tracks alive on dancefloors, and to everyone who's been part of this journey so far. Premiere: Aero - State of Burn [PRRUKBLK123]

Backspin's next release brings Selective Response, a prominent figure in America's techno scene, to the forefront with his Inner Heaven EP. Known for his hard-hitting techno rollers, he brings his expertise and passion to Backspin, delivering a release that aligns seamlessly with the label's mission to rejuvenate the Hardgroove sound of the early 2000s, blending releases of legendary pioneers with those of fresh talents.  The EP opens with Hells Bells, a doomy track that encapsulates Selective Response's signature style, featuring relentless rhythms and an underworldly bell theme. The title track Inner Heaven follows, offering a, contrasting atmosphere, blending ethereal elements with driving beats to explore the balance between intensity and tranquility. On the flip side, Power Hungry delivers a potent mix of pulsating basslines, sharp percussion and industrial elements, embodying the raw energy that defines the Hardgroove genre. The EP concludes with Purifier, a track more in line with the EP’s title track, merging driving loops with intricate sound design, leaving listeners in a state of ecstatic trance.

Time to enter more experimental territories: known LAPS-Members since day one, Kid Kun and Van Kost are back with two groovy breakbeat tunes! Kid Kun’s "1 4 The System" is dark, driving and a pleasure for every sounddesign enthusiast. Van Kost follows with "Liquid Black" which is more chill and dub-influenced. Founding member Lenn Reich is back with "Phlox", dark and captivating as we know his sound. Also from Hannover we welcome "Re." with his groovy, playful but yet driving Techno tune "Tool V".

Techno is colourful.

We are LAPS Recordings, a young, growing Techno Label from Germany! The name "LAPS" is an acronym containing the initials of our 4 founding members. At the same time it highlights the concept of time, which is a topic all our productions will revolve around! 

Coming from very different musical backgrounds, the core substance of our label sound revolves around dark, energetic and emotional melodies, forceful kickdrums and driving basslines. Those main topics reappear in all of our productions, but so do the individual tastes of all founding members.
