Le GirondeMusicBox est un site internet modéré par le groupe des bibliothécaires musicaux d'Aquitaine (BiMudAq). Sorte de radiographie du réseau musical de la Gironde, on recence sur ce site les artistes, associations, salles de spectacles, labels et éditeurs qui font la vie musicale de notre territoire.

Les BiMudAq est un groupe associé de l'ACIM (Association pour la Coopération ded professionnels de l'information Musicale)

Calé sur un groove qui cogne le premier temps, infiltré par l’afrobeat de Lagos et connecté à la rudesse du Delta, c’est dans une fonderie électrique que NY.KO usine son garage funk. Assurées par l’hélicon, les basses grognent et ronflent, accompagnant sax baryton sous effets et guitares griffantes que seul le chant rugueusement soul de Nyko lui-même peut dompter !
Quand NY.KO investit la scène c’est pour la transformer en enfer rythmique, en étau funky où les amplis sont régulièrement poussés dans la zone de surchauffe.

A veteran of well-trodden stages across the globe, Bo Weavil has played
more than 2’000 concerts since his debut in 1995. Grown up in Paris,
suckled on the nourishing breast of the blues scene on both sides of
the Atlantic, his percussive guitar style and soulful, fleshy voice earned
him support slots with luminaries such as Ben Harper and Sharon
Jones & The Dap-Kings. He has graced festival stages across Europe
and North America including the ‘Eurockéennes de Belfort’, ‘Cognac
Blues Passion’ and ‘Mont-Tremblant Blues Festival’ (Canada), as well as
ranking highly at the ‘IBC’ in Memphis (USA).
Showered with accolades from France Blues, ‘Best French Artist’, ‘Best
European Album’, ‘Best European Artist’ and the ‘Cognac Blues
Passion’ prize, Bo Weavil’s music upholds the rich history of the Blues
whilst embracing the multitudinous diversity of the modern era. His
experience as a road-tripper kid, immersed in American Folk-Blues,
Caribbean traditional and African rhythms, uplights his art with a deep,
heartfelt honesty and gives him a tangible authenticity. His road-worn
voice on top of his percussive guitars, harmonicas and stomp-boxes
invites the curious listener for a trip on which they would taste the dust
of a thousand miles on their lips.
The distinctive sound of Bo Weavil’s music comes from how his rich
and clear guitar sound is complemented by the effective use of stomp-
boxes. This minimalist ‘boom-chak’ provided by pedals underpinning
the rhythm, is combined with a proficient guitar-playing that allows him
to drop finger-picked basslines whilst punch along syncopated
rhythmic chords. With an amplified harmonica mounted on rack he
dialogues with the vocals with melodic phrases and intricate riffs,
echoing to the brass hooks in Funk music. As a combo, Bo Weavil’s
one-man-band system is accompanied by Nouschka on vocals and
percussions. Her voice applies a coat of velvet on everything, while her
congas, bongos, claves and maracas lift the whole thing up with the
trance-like and tribal joy that only percussion can conjure.
He returns this year with his eighth album entitled ‘Shadows on the
Lands’, an uppercut sent straight to the face! Bo Weavil never ceases
to surprise, blur, and shake up the compass of the Blues. It is therefore
an album that is more Rock, more Funk, more Soul, also embellished
with softer pieces with World coloured numbers. Always curious, never
resting on his laurels, Bo Weavil is a free electron of the realm of Blues
whose prominent quality is to question his art and make his music
blossom. Blues? -Yes. It is fundamentally, in the literal sense of the
term, Blues, as in ‘Blues of the 21st century’, a ball of emotion that
explodes in his voice and his music.

Quintet déjanté à l’énergie inépuisable, Foolish King répand depuis 2010 son Soul-Rock survolté de la France au Québec.
Infusé par les années 60-70 avec des références comme The Meters, Booker T and the Mg’s, James Brown, Led Zeppelin ou Janis Joplin, le groupe partage la fougue contestataire et la célébration débridée de cette époque en les actualisant façon 2010’s : une soul moderne et tapageuse qui exprime ce que veut dire avoir moins de 30 ans dans le monde d’aujourd’hui.
Section rythmique redoutable, orgue et guitare enflammés sont emmenés par la chanteuse Charlie Dales, amazone soul du XXIème siècle. Avec une voix souvent comparée à Alice Russell ou Aretha Franklin, elle exhorte sur scène à l’amour et la danse au travers de textes personnels qui s’attaquent avec humour à toutes les formes de fanatisme, aux dérives d’un monde qui érige l’argent comme valeur suprême ou encore aux difficultés de l’apprentissage de la vie.
En résumé, un groupe  « Soul music, Rock spirit » irrésistible.
