Guy J returns to Bedrock with what is probably one of the most eagerly awaited releases of the year. Having been an outstanding highlight in his sets for many months, and been the subject to endless discussion across social media, “Candyland” is set to take things to another level.

In a world where the creative arts are fluid, influencing each other via film, music and theatre, the world of Desaturate brings a passion for the creative process matched by a dedication to musical craft. As the lines between art forms become blurred, "The Unholy Mountain" draws inspiration from the world of cinema and musical storytelling.

A man with a rich history within the underground music scene, the Progress Inn name saw Janko Dragovic partnered with Igor Kadic in a string of impressive releases allied to the industry's most respected imprints. Thus, Vapour, Stripped and Temporum provide the backdrop for Serbian production know-how and a platform for DJ performances across Europe and their adopted Perth home on south-western Australian coast.

Through Desaturate, success has continued for Dragovic as work for Sudbeat, Sound Avenue and Balkan Connection testifies, often through the collaborative partnership formed with French dance music legend Rick Pier O'Neil. Now returning to Particles after the success of the "Spirals" EP with O'Neil, Desaturate embarks upon a new musical chapter.

Influenced by the 1973 film, "The Holy Mountain" and accompanied by exquisite art from the hand of Ben Mautner, Desaturate draws inspiration from the, "fascinating work of art" directed by Alejandro Jodorowsky. Filled with religious imagery and stunning visual cinematography, Desaturate's "The Unholy Mountain" is a musical vignette of the highest order through a sweeping cinematic narrative that paints a vivid aural picture.

Opening track "Detract" is a warm, bouncing, bass-fuelled gem that is enhanced by a striking percussive cadence and richly textured pads that pulse gently throughout the eight-minute work. Reverb and delay drenched chords play their part in a brooding and hypnotic piece that evolves elegantly from the third movement.

"Frostbite" maintains the hypnotic flow of its predecessor as metronomic groove quickly finds its feet amidst a melange of evocative chord progressions and sumptuous pads. A delicious riff adds aural bite from the mid-point onwards in a work that revels in strong rhythmic accent.

Characterised by a strong, thumping beat, final track, "Unholy" develops with impressive guile and subtlety through its side-chained pads and acid-tinged riff, building in momentum to a superb zenith. Effects layers redolent in filtered and flanged delays swim across the stereo spectrum to supply additional depth in a work of skill and poise.

Scaling unprecedented heights at the summit of "The Unholy Mountain", Desaturate has further enhanced his reputation at the high altar of underground dance music. "We began in a fairytale and we came to life, but is this life reality? No, it is a film."

'Bushwacka! needs little introduction from me but I will say we are honoured to have one of the most pivotal characters in the UK underground electronic music scene finally make his debut on our label. 

I first heard Matthew play at a party called Whoop Whoop in the early 2000’s, it was a gritty squat party in an old boozer somewhere at the end of the District line, I was asked by a friend to do the lights tat the party, new to London I didn’t actually know anything about the event at the time but I experienced Bushwacka! spinning his magic behind the decks for the first time and realised stood next to him his exceptional ability as a DJ, it led me down long path of discovery of his own releases and his output on his labels… 

We met again in 2006 through a mutual friend who invited Matthew to come play at our full moon cave party for his birthday, this led to a friendship to playing and many crazy moonlit parties under the Ibiza skies together. The tracks on The Awakening EP were selected by Matthew for me as a reflection of the music play together at our free parties….' - Ryan O Gorman (Vitalik)

Fittingly entitled ‘A Walk Through The Haze’, Henry’s first tracks on the label since 2015 instantly summon the highly cosmic, utterly enveloping signature that secured him such a sweet spot in the first place. 

Emotional, unpredictable and splashed with powerful tones and colours; on each cut there’s a clear point where you think you’ll know where he’s going before boom: he takes a sudden turn and brings on a completely different trip. The stunningly mind melting breakdown of ‘Claustrum’, the darker, rolling technoid textures on the payoff of ‘The Arch’ and finally, the sudden island-bound ripples that flutter out of the gurgling bass on the finale ‘The Hunt’ are just three examples...

Detailed, provocative, creatively fulfilling... Saiz really is in his own lane right now.
