I played a hugely enjoyable 8 hour marathon at Kantine am Berghain in Berlin last Thursday, and although I wasn’t able to record the whole night, I did manage to get the first 3 hours and the final hour and a half. So this is a mix in 2 parts – the first 185 minutes a downtempo groove fest, whilst from 3.05.26 onwards we’re into the final furlongs of the party with proceedings much more upbeat.

Steyoyoke Recordings are well known for their constant innovation and this new project arrives with much excitement. ‘Steyoyoke Black Reconstructed’ is designed to enable artists to delve into past Steyoyoke Black releases and rework them with their own personal touch. First up are Animal Picnic, who revisit two memorable tracks, Dahu’s ‘Ruin’ and Nick Devon’s ‘Don’t Be Afraid’.

Animal Picnic’s rendition of ‘Ruin’ maintains a perpetual vibe, which is derived directly from the original. Right from the get go, the bass line settles into an unyielding rhythm, bountiful of techno grooves and tough percussion. The breakdown then allows for the underlying melody to briefly shine through, before succumbing to its previous momentum.

Splicing the old with the new, this version of ‘Don’t Be Afraid’ establishes a more subtle build of intensity. The mood is set with an eerie presence and heightened with severe yet passionate chord changes that embellish the entire track. The echoing vocals from Benji also empower this remix, ascertaining an audio delight of malicious beauty.

‘Temporary Sanity’ first appeared on the critically acclaimed ‘Time’ (LF017) album by Guy Mantzur & Sahar Z, and has remained a standout favourite since the LP was released back in November 2014. Now, Cornucopia has breathed a new life into the track with a beautifully melodic, subtle, sun-drenched percussive remix.

Already a huge track for John Digweed, who loved it so much, he featured it on his recent ‘Live In Montreal’ (Bedrock) release. Since then, the demand has been steadily growing for Cornucopia’s remix to be released in its own right, so at last, here we have it in all it’s glory on Lost & Found.

Once in a while an album appears that is distinctly special and has the ability to captivate audiences on a global scale, breaking through simplistic genre boundaries and uniting people through its exploration of the psyche of modern electronic dance music. Born in 1985 in Amsterdam gifted Dutch artist Yoram fell in love with music at a young age.He was a child of a creative family; his father, a professional sculptor, always played the guitar and his mother had a passion for singing.Yoram himself took guitar as well as saxophone lessons, but later discovered that he was much more interested in electronic music.As a teenager he took a DJ-course and by than his musical talents awakened.He spend all his time and money in the record stores to look for new and unknown music, starting off with trance, later on followed by house and techno and everything in between. When he was 18 years old he decided that it was time to produce his own music.He subscribed to SAE Institute Amsterdam (School of Audio Engineering) where he got his grade in audio engineering in 2007.
In 2010 he released his first EP on Eelke Kleijns label Outside the Box Music, which was supported by many artists like Hernan Cattaneo and Nick warren.After that many releases and remixes followed on labels like Crossfrontier Audio, Parquet Records, OTB Music, Lowbit, Balkan Connection (Tech) and Sound Avenue.As a DJ he played at clubs and festivals like Mysteryland, Magneet Festival, Greafenthall Etc

The follow up to his Goslings EP is a grip of chunky, stark and minimalistic house tracks for the heads. On remix duty is the Detroit techno pioneer Thomas Barnett, known as one half of Rhythim is Rhythim and co creator of techno classics like Nude Photo, as well as a vast catalog of records under one alias or another. Thomas' Groove Slave moniker makes a showing here and the result is high powered 313 future soul.
