Cosmic Flowers

Seemed an appropriate way to play out 2020. Here's to better times ahead, not just for our country but for the whole world too.

This was a spontaneous improv performed on New Year's Eve in Boulder, Colorado, at Music Corner Studios (my living room).  It's a little loose, not perfect, as improvs tend to be, but the recording captured a certain vibe and mood - the culmination of feelings felt for a tough year past.  I think there really are some magical moments in this performance and it's worth sharing and hearing.

NOTE: This track was mastered by SoundCloud with the Aurora engine at a 50% setting.  This version is the MP3 edit that includes one extra time through the chorus at the end because some things are worth repeating.

A few thoughts about the origin of this piece...

This is a song a dear friend of mine wrote many years ago in late 1977 or early 1978. It touched me deeply when I first heard it almost 25 years ago and it still moves me today when I hear it. So, I decided to record my own version of it because I like the song so much and I want to be able to hear a proper recording of it. I added a little something to the piece as well, a middle section or bridge, if you will. Sail on, fellow travelers. Journey well. Journey well.
