When I listen to music, I lose touch with my body and turn into a soul that no longer belongs anywhere. I was born in Iowa, grew up listening to jazz and blues in Chicago, spent many years in the Middle East studying Persian and Arabic literature, and was exposed to the beauty of African music. To be honest, though, not even literature can move me emotionally like music does.
