Just right with the kick-off of this year´s summer season, Milk & Sugar start promoting their new single „Canto Del Pilón“ – a world music influenced summer track that stands out for his own. 

This new single is a cooperation with venezuelan singer María Marquéz, who is a great star in Spanish Speaking Middle- and South America since the late 60ies. „Canto Del Pilón“ is a black workers song about the colonial history of South America.

Remixes are coming from Berlin mastermind Taan Newjam, Italy's very own Simone Vitullo, Déepalma honcho Yves Murasca and chillout legend Afterlife.

During my travels in Mumbai last year, a Andrew Mackay from Bombay Dub Orchestra connected me with vocalist Vasuda Sharma for a tech house track I was working on. The lyrics "dheer dhariye Re Mana" are improvised during the song with "alaaps" and "Sargam" (Sa,re ga..) bascially meaning, "Have patience my dear heart." 

The idea behind the words: We get restless or disappointed when things aren't the way we'd like them to be. in times like these, one has to remind oneself to have patience because, in the end along with hard word, it's patience that pays off.

The opening track “Mountains of Es Cubells” pays tribute to Ibiza’s after party culture – which occurs in private houses that open when the clubs close, out in the warm air and sunlight, and a very intimate atmosphere. The protagonist’s verdict “I think tonight I see Ibiza like it was 25 years ago” sums it up perfectly.

Young Irish-producer Rebūke continues his rapid ascent to the top with two original productions on Hot Creations, primed and ready for the dancefloor.

Rebūke recalls being worried that Along Came Polly may have been perceived as being “a bit too weird”, but once it caught the attention of Jamie Jones, there was no stopping it. He says that the hype surrounding this EP “is something I’ve never experienced before...and it always get a great reaction”.

On Along Came Polly, Rebūke showcases his innate ability to craft a weirdly, wonderful slice of techno. On the B-side, Rolo is a much housier affair, weaving together a bouncier bassline and sultry vocal stab.

The alias of Reuben Keeney, Rebūke, has only been in business for a short while, but his efforts have already proved to be fruitful. He has garnered support from the likes of Nic Fanciulli and released on labels including Saved and DFTD, as well as having a successful club night under his belt, where highly regarded names such as Camelphat, Darius Syrossian, Ejeca and Huxley have all played.

Life and Death welcome Italian artist Whitesquare for a fantastic debut on the label that includes a remix from boss DJ Tennis. 

Whitesquare hails from Rome and runs his own Lyase Recordings while also releasing on Freerange and VOD. Those are perfect foils for his always characterful, cosmically infused house, techno and disco grooves which come with plenty of synth colour and timeless qualities. Always folding his own influences in with classic tropes, his genre-spanning productions and DJ sets have made him a key underground figure since first emerging in 2012. 

‘Visual Distortion of Reality’ kicks things off with a brilliantly rugged bassline underlining loose hits and drum fills. A robotic acid line takes the track far into the future and primes it for real dance floor destruction. The excellent ‘Not Moving’ is a spaced out electro styled cut with lithe drums and sleek synths journeying into the cosmos. Another killer bassline brings things to life in real style as you’re taken ever higher. Lastly, ’Jasmine’ is another trip to the stars, with a squelchy bassline and crisp snares impossible to ignore as they ride on perfectly programmed drums. This one gets a subtle Re-Match from DJ Tennis who layers in a little more synth drama and darkness as a result. 

This is a stylish, cinematic EP that voyages to the outer edges of our galaxy in thrilling fashion.

Visual Distortion Of Reality

[LAD046] Whitesquare - Jasmine

Bubbling on the peripheries of the sonic universe since 2001 but floating in the vast caverns of space since 2013, cult imprint Marguerita Recordings springs back into orbit.

Previously home to music from the likes of Dexter, Edo 8, Luke Vibert, Detroit In Effect and of course the label captain Cosmic Force, Marguerita is back in business. Its return follows a rich vein of form from the label founder. An enduring energy in techno and electro, Cosmic Force has recently been spotted smashing up the Boiler Room and releasing on the likes of Something Happening Somewhere and Alienata’s Disco Atonicos.

Marguerita marks the next stage of Cosmic Force’s recalibration and he’s rolling deep with kindred spirits such as fellow Dutchman Sjamsoedin who has the honour of re-launching the label and does so in fine style; ‘Research’ comprises five pieces of uncompromised electro, often fractured with necksnap technoid breaks and laced with infectious acid, they rekindle Marguerita’s spicy kick and full-flavoured taste for experimentalism.

From the 23rd century sleaze and cyberpunk noir of robo-voxed opener ‘The Way You Want’ to the warehouse battering all-out 303 stomp ‘Dreams Of You’ by way of the dream-weaving aesthetics and rocket-fuelled breakbeats of ‘Blue & Pink’, it’s yet another powerful statement from Sjamsoedin that crosses the board from electro to techno via house. Like Cosmic Force, Sjamsoedin is on an unstoppable roll right now with the likes of Ame, Dixon, Jennifer Cardini all heavily supporting his last releases with De Sluwe Vos, ‘Never Know’ and the remix of Cabin Fever, which dropped on Mathew Jonson’s Capsule.

As with all things Cosmic Force, the label’s return hasn’t been taken lightly. The artwork for ‘Research’ is created through a series of photos of custom printed circuit boards made specifically for this release. 100 of them have been made and contain the EP itself. Trust us; these will not hang around…

Furious Frank returns to Butter Sessions with 'Ahora Sí'. The fully fledged house anthem is the result of a cross-continental collaboration with Barcelona based vocalist and producer Ivy Barkakati. 

We're treated to four versions of 'Ahora Sí', all tested and ready for the dance floor and those special moments! Kicking it off, Frank delivers his "Original Acid Mix". A deep, squelchy lurker with nods to late 80's and 90's house music, peaking with thick piano chords and Barkakati's deep Spanish vocals. On the 'Sunrise' mix, the piano and chords become the focus and set the mood for an uplifting journey, bolstered by the raw thump and jack of the drum machines. 

The flip side see's Barcelona based "IVAN" emerge with their version. The duo made up of Ivy Barkakati and Phran of Klasse Wrecks fame slow things down a touch, mangle the chords and inject the rhythm with flattering top-drawer percussion. Vancouver native D. Tiffany rounds the EP off with sub-heavy bass drops, hi-tek rhythms, euphoric vocal slithers and more stingin' acidic vibes.
