In celebration of Hip Hop's 50th year, we've teamed up with London based ‘Classic Material’ to present a chronologically themed series of mixtapes celebrating the history of recorded Rap music, mixed by Chris Read. Alongside the Hip Hop series this companion Breaks series takes our re-cap of Rap History a level deeper, this time reconstructing the classics of the Hip Hop canon from their constituent sample material. Arranged chronologically of course, this mix pieces together popular Hip Hop tunes from 1979 to 1986 utilising only the Funk, Soul, Disco and Boogie tracks from which they were originally constructed. Artwork pays homage to Paul Winley's iconic 'Super Disco Brakes' compilation series.

Like it or not, relationships come to an end: turn the page, walk away.
A prismatic monolith of improvised jams, where I play a huge array of instruments, from bass guitar to tenor sax, from Chinese to Indonesian winds and sapek, the lute of the Kenyah (Dayak) tribes of Borneo (some of you might remember Tresno’s first release back in 2016, The Sacred Drones of West Kalimantan, which focused on the traditional musics of the Kenyah and the Kayan tribes of the river Mendalam in West Borneo).
This is Tresno Records’ sixth release since its foundation, four years ago
