There is an interesting story behind the song, 'My Little Angel".   First the obvious, Larry wrote this about his first grandchild, the first is always special, Indigo Heaven Hale.  Indigo, btw, is quite a talented singer herself, having recorded her first song around the age of seven.  "My Little Angel" was also recorded around that time.  The really awesome thing about this song is the live birds!  In the last chorus, all the way through, the Cockateils are "singing" along with Larry.  Never before, nor again, did they do that!!!  They sounded perfect in the song, so he kept the vocal track with the birds!

MY LITTLE ANGEL

Larry David Hale, Bio as told to Destiny
“I was obsessed with Elvis at the age of nine, and knew then I wanted to play music for the rest of my life", Larry says with a smile.  He started teaching himself to play guitar and sing while watching Elvis on TV.  Completely self-taught guitarist and singer/songwriter, Larry has spent his life devoted to music.  He gives a lot of credit to his family for letting him pursue his dreams.  Raised in a small town with his mom, dad, sister and two brothers, he says, "I was so blessed to have Mother who loved and FULLY supported me along with her mother a full blood Cherokee.  They always encouraged me to follow my dreams.  I will never forget in one of my first bands, both of them attending an outdoor show, with an audience of about 600; my grandmother was 88 years old at the time.  Both of them enjoyed 'the balls to wall' rock n roll or at least pretended to enjoy it for my sake.  They attended every show they could."   
Later Larry moved to Dallas and says he learned the true meaning of a starving musician.  Doing whatever he could to make a living, like many musicians at the time, and the rest of the time playing anywhere he could, no matter how big or small.  Once he tells that he even got to do rehearsals at a studio the same day the Scorpions were in rehearsals just down the hall.  He tells that he lived within spittin' distance of Harry Hines Blvd, "The place to be then, with all the clubs and bands coming through".  He says that he played his guitar every day for months, sometimes 8-10 hours a day, until his fingers bled.  Around this time, he also lived in LA for a while, frequented places such as "The Whiskey" during the start of the 80's hairbands.  Hitting the scene to see bands such as Motley Crue and Ratt before they were famous.  As a young man, with no obligations this was a time in his life he learned the "rock star" image.   After a few years traveling as a young musician, he came back to Oklahoma to raise a family. Although he never stopped playing, during this time the live shows and touring did slow down some as his family and children were and still are important in his life.  He used this time to grow as an artist in songwriting, recording, and perfecting the sound he wanted. 
Over the years, Larry's musical influences have grown and become more diverse from his boyhood idol of Elvis.  Early on he had started mimicking and learning styles such as Dokken, Van Halen, Boston and old Kiss.  Later, others like Alice in Chains, Yanni, George Straight and Dale Thompson of Bride were added to the list.  He has taken the different styles of these artists and created his own unique style, now it's hard to name any one artist that he sounds like.    
Today, he feels he has started to find that certain sound he has been working towards.   But he admits that he always wants to continue to grow musically, never becoming "stuck" in one sound, as some artists have done.  Although, only a 3 piece band, it is a fuller sound with more than one guitar and keys in many of the songs.  No it's not cheating, Larry explains, "I never record anything that I can't also do live by using ‘on the fly’ looping on guitar, acoustic & keys."
When I asked Larry to sum up his musical and personal views on his own talent he says, "I believe my writing, music & vocals are very versatile and unique.  I've been doing this long enough to appreciate honest criticism.  If you don't like what you hear in my music I'm okay with that, I'm confident enough to know many do like it and there will be some who don't.  I would appreciate your complete and full honesty when dropping me a note or commenting on my music.
