The Assignment: Improvise successive layers, each time reversing the previous layer.

I used Korg MS2000 + Memory Man looper pedal, which is probably the easiest way to overdub on reversed audio. So you have different loops coming together, some reversed, some forward. 

I added a bit of ping pong delay and slap back echo sort of reverb to create a bit more space and then add some punch to the 'drums'.

The piece - Lafken Kürüf - has been composed from recordings taken in the south of Chile in 2015. Mixing various sounds of the wind and the ocean, as well as glimpses of voices, those emblematic sounds from my stay there are composed in a short piece transcribing the powerful sonic landscape that has accompany me during the three months spent in the Mapuche Lafkenche community of Traïtraïko Leufu. The noise of the wind on the rooftop of my house and the rumble from the Pacific Ocean close by kept me from sleeping at night as i would imagine it coming out from its bed, like in the Mapuche Lafkenche mythology.

There is a clear intent to create work that celebrates imperfections, values character and personality over the stale gimmicks of promotion. And then the sincere hope that it generates as penetrating an experience for the end receiver as it does for its creator.

The work has been characterized as refreshingly kinetic, candid, self-replenishing, atmospheric and serene. It falls along the lines of drone, minimalist, sound art & ambient genres and undeniably subscribes to a DIY modus operandi.
