When we first covered Les Chaos Ambiants, it was clear they weren’t aiming for the usual festival formula. Instead of big stages and brand sponsorships, they’re focused on how electronic music and art can interact with local identity and environmental urgency. For 2025, the festival returns to Sommant, right in the Morvan Regional Natural Park, continuing to build on this concept. There’s still just one stage, no clashes, no sprinting between acts, but now there’s added weight on multidisciplinary art, from Adrien Lamm’s sculptural installations by the lake to workshops exploring endangered species through sound and visual design.

The lineup remains eclectic but united by atmosphere, curated once again by Alfonso Pomeda, who’s also the artistic mind behind Barcelona’s Mostra Festival. The full lineup for 2025 includes ABSIS, Alcachofa, Avsluta, Faery, Fran Campos, Lynne , Merovee, Metshka Pampo, Myles Dillon, Nems-B, Orsu, Owl, Toé, and Sybil. Les Chaos Ambiants seems designed for people who treat listening as an experience in itself, a festival where silence and subtlety can carry as much weight as rhythm or volume. Which brings us naturally to one of this year’s standout additions.

Let’s be honest: some artists play music; others change the room around you. Owl belongs firmly in the second camp. Just a few weeks ago, he opened the infamous “La Cabaña”, the ambient and experimental temple at Perpendicular Festival, with a set steeped entirely in lush, enveloping ambient. It was a lesson in subtle power, transforming a cavernous space into something intimate and weightless. It wasn’t flashy, but it left everyone exhaling like they’d just remembered how to breathe. Owl’s ability to craft this atmosphere without ever sounding forced makes him a perfect fit for Les Chaos Ambiants. Here’s an artist who understands that music in a pine forest doesn’t need to shout. Recorded on a farm in Rotterdam (Kralingseweg 393). Released on limited cassette in 1987 (100, sold out). Solo recordings by Hanyo van Oosterom (Chi Factory, Son Of Chi) on 4-track cassette (Tascam 234 Syncaset). Originally recorded as sketches for a new CHI album.

All instruments by Hanyo van Oosterom: Roland Juno 60, Ensoniq Mirage sampler, Roland SVC-350 vocoder, damped piano, bells, bass, guitar, bamboo flutes, percussion, field recordings. 

Original final mix by Jurgen Brouwer. Remastered and remixed by Hanyo van Oosterom in 2025. All rights reserved. 

Inspired by the novel 'By The Body Of The Earth' by Satprem. A book of the voyage of the soul, which others call reincarnation, a perpetual story which unfolds itself in three cycles or three lives, three islands which are situated in "this land here or any other", apparently in India, Egypt and the frozen lakes of Norway. 

The main charcter - Nil - always in quest of "something else". A new state upon earth for man, free from mechanism and the laws of the mind, who had cast away all for this, given up the world for that of a mendicant Sannyasin. 

After a long and sometimes hard journey he finally discovers a vaster, cosmic consciousness and new perceptions, but finally he realises that he had perhaps gained the freedom of the heights, but lost the earth.

Wolfgang Voigt makes a return to Astral Industries, seeing the continuation of his long-running Rückverzauberung (Reverse Enchantment) series. In line with previous volumes, one may expect the unconventional, idiosyncratic sound Voigt is reputed for. ‘Im Tunnel’ however, takes a more concentrated viewpoint - a metaphysical transmutation that brings with it an experience of mind-melting drones and swelling intensity.

Entering the tunnel is like opening a portal, but as the fabric of time-space begins to collapse on itself, it feels more like a rude awakening. Pulsing undulations rise and fall like the turbines of a spacecraft, marked by dissonant chords and a simmering cloud of complex and ever-shifting textures. Pushing thresholds and expectations, the unearthly nature of the tunnel over time disintegrates any proposed state of completion.

A treacherous voyage, and possibly bewildering for some, the work is both unrelenting and uncompromising. Should one decide to step into the tunnel, be sure to take all necessary precautions and procedures.

It is now September 2025, after a rich, contrasting and complex summer, and it is time to unveil the 35th episode of the series with producer and DJ 矯激 [Radical].

His real name is Raphaël Cuevas, and he is a character full of contrasts, discreet yet highly acclaimed on the French and Andalusian underground scene. He has released some great tracks on labels such as Perchépolis, Forsaken Cell, and NFEREE Records. His unique style is at the crossroads between deep techno, liquid, breakbeat, bass music and experimental music infused with dub sounds and sometimes raw accents.  With surgical precision and a definite psychedelic vibe, the artist delivers here a set played at Peppar 2025 in Spain, intended for the most seasoned ravers, ready to battle it out on a dance floor in the middle of the desert at 40 degrees Celsius, enough to relive the summer of 2025 once again before he bows out.
